keep ours at 77 over night.. 79 daytime, and that still feels cool... i think id freeze if i kept my ac at what some of you guys say you do(low 70s).. only switch to heat few times a year, still at 77-79.

Summer (April-ish-September-ish) is 80-82, depending on how I feel I guess. Last year AC was set at 82, this year it was 80.
Winter (October-ish to April-ish) AC/heater is off. There are still warm days where the inside temp gets 87, but once it cools of it's in the 70's. Later in the winter the house temps hits mid 50's at which point I carry around a portable heater with me. I like to use the AC as little as possible, because with a 3700 sq ft house with 2 AC units in AZ, the electric bill is between 450-500 when it's on, and ~150 when it's off.

Air condition 24/7/365, I like it cold!
Usually run the A/C at 68-69 during the summer, have two small ones for the apartment. During the winter...landlord doesn't put the heat on, so I'm usually all suited up.

Summer is set at 78, and for the life of me I cant remember what we put it at during the winter, if I had my way, it would never come on. The wife gets cold easily, which is kind of ironic seeing how she was born and raised in Montana, she gets cold when its over 80

Before I had children it would be hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
Now with 2 small children it is 72 in the Summer and 70 in the Winter. The bills are not pretty some months. |

my utility bills don't reflect it, but I keep the heat on 68-72 and the A/C on 72ish all year round. I have a programmable thermostat and during the week, i have it programmed to lower the heat temp or turn the A/C temp up during the day. it's a 5 degree swing in both instances.
my electric during the summer has yet to be over $125/month my gas during the winter is $85-115/month, and I have a gas oven/range and hot water heater. I would recommend to anyone with a home, keep it maintained and well insulated. Once a year, I insert a vent fan to pull vacuum on my home in the 2nd floor and go into the basement and 1st floor to check for drafts around my foundation, doors, windows and floors. I spent about $300 to get my home draft free and it was worth every penny (probably made me money). Make sure all your doors have floor scrapers and seal well against their respective jambs. during the summer days, keep all of your blinds closed.

I'm home sick today.
It's about 70ish outside but the apartment is still pushing 80+ (it was also much cooler overnight) I have ceiling fans, floor fans and the patio door open!

When I'm cold, I turn the heat up til I'm warm. When I'm hot I turn it down til I'm cool. I don't give a rip about what number it lands on.

what's your thermostat say?
Mine says 68 when people are home and 62 when not. Right now I'm home when I'm not supposed to be and chilled.
