This is correct. Also keep in mind that most pay a fee for being able to use a credit card service, so negotiating with cash could also save you a little money.

Um. No. This is not true at all. 99% of transactions are done in cash. Taking credit is a service dealers do for the customer.

Cool thanks... this will be my first time going and I'm not wanting to just carry a bunch of cash.

How isn't this true at all?! It's absolutely true that using a credit card costs the dealer money in fees, just like Paypal does. I was saying that it was a better move to use cash.

2 years ago I had a few dealers take Paypal and not one asked for gift although I can see way dealers would ask for it now.

2 years ago I went to the national with hardly any cash and that was a huge mistake. Big places like BO and the company booths will take CC's but the majority of the small dealers won't take CC's. many more may now but all I know is last time I walked away saying I was going to bring a ton of cash next time. This year I'm bringing just a ton of cash.

Paying with a credit card, you will be subject to Cook County taxes, and probably Rosemont city taxes. Using a credit card at the National is foolish unless it's the last option for most.

yes, when I set up at the '92 National in Atlanta the tax peeps were there at the end of the show to make paying your taxes easy. Obviously a business has to claim their credit card receipt. Cash can be fudged...of course I was 100% honest.

If I remember right, Cook County tax is pushing 10% too. I could be wrong though.

I certainly take CC, as do all the other wax dealers. I'll also have about 40,000 $1 cards, sorted by team, about 8,000 low end jerseys/autos sorted by team as well as 8 showcases of high end singles and some pretty cool autographed memorabilia, including some pieces signed by Honus Wagner (PSA) and multiple pieces that have both Mantle and Maris (JSA). Come see me.

Looking for Andre Dawson Serial numbered cards that are his jersey number - either #8 or #10. So looking for cards like 8/8 or 08/99 or 10/250.

Yes, most accept credit cards but they will charge you sales tax.
