Default “Firefly: The Verse” 4 Box Break (Dual Autograph + 6 1/1’s)

I ordered these four boxes just prior to Thanksgiving and received them today. I was pumped I hit the redemption in the first box (which luckily Upper Deck will still honor) but I could not believe what came out of the next three boxes. Here’s what I found:

Box 1

Nathan Fillion/Sean Maher Dual Autograph

Box 2

Card #163 Yellow Printing Plate

Inara Sketch Card by Melissa Piccone

Box 3

Card #5 Black Printing Plate

Mal Sketch Card by William Withers

Box 4

Card #158 Magenta Printing Plate

Jayne Sketch Card by Matthew Brazier

Three boxes in a row that had both a printing plate and a sketch card. I was shocked, especially after starting with the Fillion autograph. I also hit 3 single autographs, 4 patches (Tier 3) and 5 artist signatures.

As always thanks for checking out my break!

Very, very well done. Congrats on the dual. I have that in my PC and it looks just incredible; got really lucky shortly after release with a poorly titled listing.

Ugh... so there may be an issue getting this card redeemed after all. I tried to enter it into my account and it came back as unavailable. I contacted Upper Deck's customer service so hopefully they will be able to help. I'll be really disappointed if I am not able to get it because it expired last month. Honestly I never even thought about redemptions with this product.

Don't worry about it, expired redemptions are accepted by UD up to a year after the printed expiration date (that's been their policy for over a year now). You just have to e-mail the code to their customer service, and they hand enter it into their system.

That's what I thought when I saw the expiration date but I couldn't find anything on their website that indicated that year grace period. I'll be able to chat with someone tomorrow and hopefully get it taken care of but I really appreciate your insight.

I spoke with UD this morning and got the information to the right people. Excited that they will still honor the redemption but the whole process is puzzling to me. If they are going to extend all redemption dates by a year, wouldn't it be easier to just put that date into their system rather than having people call/email with their codes? Just seems like a lot more work on their end.

My thought was, why don't they just make the dates on the cards longer.

But my guess is that the answer to both our questions is the same. By putting an earlier date, fewer people may actually try to redeem them. Then if they do, not having the code work will probably stop another chunk of people. Then if they are persistent enough or in the know, they will email the code to.customer service to redeem it. But people are lazy or get fristrayed, and just give up when things are hard. So my guess is, it actually saves them from having to send out every redemption. If that's not the case and they really are trying to be shady like that, then you are right, they are just making much more work for themselves.

I picked up four more boxes. Will be nearly impossible to top this break but these are a fun rip at the current price. I’ll post the next round on Monday.

I ordered 4 from the same place (probably) last week. Hope for some similar luck.

I think it's on the toploader. There's another one on the edge of it. Looks like tiny paper shavings or something that clung to it. The card is probably fine.

Just was something on the top loader. No concerns with the card.
