Yet another update . . .

The Deck Boxes have been working pretty well, but I noticed yesterday that the deck boxes are a bit taller than the row dividers in a 5 row box. It seems like it might be ok, but I'm worried that if these were stacked tall a lot of weight would be being supported on these deck boxes. I'm going to stick with the deck boxes, and move away from 5 row boxes. The 2 row boxes I have are taller and don't have this issue.

Thanks for the update!

Yah, I have a couple of 4-row/5-row boxes and they're too heavy when fully loaded. Plus I like that the quantities I buy (several boxes up to a case) will usually fit in a 2-row or 3-row, so it simplifies storage a bit.

Totally agree, I've done a TON of consolidating in my collection in the last several years, and have pretty much moved away from the 5 row boxes. I just have a few holdovers that I'll be getting rid of.

I've never used the 3 row boxes -- are they tall like the 2 rows, or short like the 5 rows?

Weight and space are the reason I'm going through this whole exercise. . . I'm pretty much getting rid of toploaders and moving to sleeved cards in boxes. I used to have all my regular chase cards in toploaders. I was able to consolidate about 3 2-row boxes of cards into a single 2-row box just by dumping the toploaders.

From my eyeballing them side-by-side, the 3-row shoeboxes are maybe 2-3mm taller than the 2-rows. YMMV

The reason I like the 3-rows is that they are longer, so they can hold nearly 2@ 2-row shoeboxes of cards. I never started by toploading everything, so from what I gather from this thread, I started out where you are ending up, with only hits in toploaders and everything else either sleeved (inserts) or unsleeved (base)

Thanks for the info, I'll need to find some 3 row boxes and give them a shot. The extra length would be good. . .

I used to have all chase in toploaders, sets in snap boxes, loose cards unsleeved. . .

First I sold off all the loose cards. Then I sold off all the sets. . .

Now I throw away all the base unless I really want a set for myself.

I'm going through my chase and hits and pulling almost everything -- including most hits out of toploaders.
