...but by all means it is my fault that ginter isn't what it should be. Perhaps I'm old and crotchety, perhaps I'm bitter, perhaps I just like being the fly in the ointment....

..or perhaps I can see what topps has done to this product, which was one of the finest they put out during the year. This is just a shell of what it used to be. I'm sorry that others can't see that, but then again if you hand over your money before the checklist hits, you have lost all recourse right?
Or perhaps everyone knows that you complain about every release every year.

There is I agree.

But when people are paying 100 a box.

I would rather get rid of my 25 jersey cards

And get a auto per box

I think ginter x is really what bugs me

No jerseys auto per box .. half the price

Throw the rips in ginter x and you really got something

Are minis in Ginter X? I didn't purchase last year and can't remember.

Yes. Plus every box had a mini numbered to 1 or 5

So instead of not having a mini to 1-5 in every box

They just add a mini to 10 . So everybox has a 1 5 or 10

But topps does not think these things through very well

I like this and this needs to be addressed. Value doesn't always mean topps went out and spent a ton on the product. Getting Mike Trout to sign on card autos is value both ways.....value if we pull it, and value because topps had to bust butt to get that done. Trout autos don't grow on trees. What does grow on trees is low numbered parallels. Sure those CAN be value for pack busters, but that doesn't cost topps any more than a card numbered to 10,000.

Why does opening day cost what it does and ginter costs what it does? It HAS to be because it costs topps more to make it. There has to be an expectation at 100 dollars a box. Ginter isn't even 1 autograph a box, even though for the last few years I would rather pull a metal mini, or a rip card, or some of the other rarer cards, most of the time those sell for more than the autographs, but the checklist has to be there. It simply is not and I don't see topps spending the money elsewhere on the checklist.

Lets just remember that it costs topps the same to print a chrome card to 5 than it does a chrome card numbered to 999. Topps needs to spend money too if we are going to continue to pay these prices.

Speculation, or do we know of a mini parallel #’d/10?

What you wrote does not address what you replied to. I don't care what it is costing Topps to produce my case. They are running a business. I am comfortable paying what I pay and I also don't mind putting in the work to get value out of that case. And I think the value is there.

I think it's just speculation, but this seems reasonable. Topps will probably make the red mini #/10 and double case production. It's what they do.

Wan't the Red Mini already an added parallel that wasn't in the original release?

Yes just speculation....

My point being topps does not think things through

If they up the run.. which they will

instead of not having a mini to 1 OR 5 in every box

Just change the red mini to 10 or 8 or 7 so you still get a red every box

Last year it was $70 per box plus shipping, and speaking to distributor today he mentioned he heard this year will be more expensive. I agree that X is likely the way to go, but it won't be that much cheaper than regular Ginter.

I have bought at least a case of almost every topps product this year

My guess the price is up and production and it is not very good compared to last year...

Very interested in odds on hobby... someone should have hobby today... and many tomorrow...

So hopefully we can find out how bad topps upped this very soon

Bought a case last year and just broke even on it. I love the product though. Looks so much better than regular Ginter. The black minis and the black with silver ink autos are great.

All of topps bb products on the website that i pay attention to are higher this year.

X was not collected by the masses the way A/G is - i broke even last year with some great hits - this year if the price is higher (and production up too) it will be an easy decision to watch from the sidelines. (unless rookie autos not in A/G are in X.)

I promise you it's right around 50%. I had the odds in June but was sworn to secrecy since it was so early. And I deleted the odds so don't ask me for specifics! I just remember 50% increase, 6 autos per case, and 2 rips per case.

Anyone hear if they are doing the foil hot boxes again this year? They actually sold fairly well for a little while.
