Default What year was your favorite bowman chrome design

My personal favorite Bowman Chrome design was 2009.. so simple and sharp looking. Centering was bad on them but whatever. I would have to say 2013 is my 2nd favorite. Let me know what y'all think!

97: nice
98: boring but ok
99: boring but ok
00: boring but ok
01: sorta ugly but sorta iconic
02: more ugly but sorta iconic (02 xfractors FTW)
03: sorta boring but sorta iconic
04: boring and kinda ugly. Most likely to have been designed in <10 minutes.
05: less boring but not great
06: simple and kinda nice but blocky
07: kinda ugly and blocky
08: weird and ugly but kinda cool (the prospect design)
09: clean and nice, kinda boring but has aged well
10: meh, QC nightmare
11: snoozey
12: extremely boring but ok
13: very boring but ok
14: prospect design is ugly keyhole shape, vet design is actually really nice
15: I have thought blecch (sideways nameplates and strange graphics), but now it is kind of growing on me
16: blocky boring. Text too big
17: pretty nice overall, very corporate looking but at least an open and balanced design.

You asked!

Curious. What product designs do you think aren't boring?

1997. Especially the International Refractors.

I kind of like the 2013. I'm a fan of borders, but 2017 isn't bad at all.

If I had been as patient, I would've made the same list. Bowman Chrome had it's first comeback since '97 this year amd it's still pretty meh. People are all over those cards because of resell value and no other reason.

Imagine where the Bowman Chrome series would be if Mike Trout was never featured. He put a series of ugly, common prospect cards on the map.

The 1997 Bowman Chrome design looks kind of derivative of the 1995 Bowman's Best design:

I really liked 2013 for some reason. I think the autographs in 2015 turned out well too, but overall it's not my favorite design

I like how 08 colored refractors are also colored on the back...

Very interesting guys! Glad to know I'm not the only one who likes 2013, sometimes simple and clean beats over-thinking in my eyes.

Well, I think bowman has had the most boring designs overall. Though flagship had a good run of boringness 2012-14.

Recent Not boring would include designs like:
Classy - recent stadium club
Gaudy - 15 and 16 Topps
Vintagey - all retro products
Fancypants - museum, tribute etc

IMHO there are not that many products that thread the needle of being non-boring and non-ugly. Baseball card designers are usually not the top designers in the field, and also there's only so many ways to design a card and there are already a bazillion card sets in existence.
