Default Robert Stock

If you've followed prospects for a while, you probably remember the name Robert Stock. He just made his MLB today at age 28 as a hard-throwing reliever for the Padres. I had totally forgot about him.

He was BA’s youth player of the year as a 16 year old in 2005. I bet he never pictured getting to the majors the way he did v

Yeah, Robert Stock! Totally forgot about him. This was the hot-card-of-the-week a dozen years ago.

Good for him.

This is why you always hold prospects instead of dumping for nothing.

See Story, Trevor.

No way, good for him. I remember I learned about multipliers through his 2009 Bowman Chrome Draft cards. I learned the hard way.

His base is X
That means his Refractor is x
That makes this Orange and Red for $$$$ a deal............ it wasnt.

For those that don't remember the name, or weren't really following baseball - he was without a doubt the top amateur player for years. Ended up finishing high school early, with honors and went to Southern California at 16..

It's really a crazy scenario for him to actually get back into affiliated baseball basically from his pedigree and Youtube videos...and then the debut yesterday.

Really cool story.

Was reading that BA also had him as the best 13 year old at the time.. and 14 year old.. and 15 year old.

Quite the interesting career.

Career minor league numbers aren't as bad as I would have thought as a hitter (leading to the change to pitcher)

.244/.321/.350 in 360 G, 783 PA, 10 HR, 72 RBI, 112 SO, 75 BB

started pitching in 2012

186 minor league appearances with 2 starts, 19-11, 3.80 ERA, 1.454 WHIP, 16 SV, 261 SO, 181 BB

I don't know why he made the transition but those numbers as a catcher weren't really that bad, so unless his defense was horrific it seems like he could have stuck as a hitter, decent discipline. Instead it took him 6 years as a pitcher to make the bigs

Probably because he had zero shot of replacing yadier Molina back then.

He was in line to host the reboot of "Unsolved Mysteries" before this happened.

Got to meet him last year when he was with AA Pensacola, he was a super nice dude. Glad to see him finally get his call-up.
