Default What do Case Breakers do with Base?

Might be a dumb question that has been covered before, but I see a lot of breakers only ship autos/gu/#d/refractors/rc, but vet base get left behind. It seems like most give the option to ship the vet base for the price of postage, but what if someone declines? Where do those cards go? Maybe I can work something out with those casebreakers

I've seen them sell these at card shows (10 cents/card bargain bins). If you are lucky enough to get a crack at the boxes, you can find tons of cheap base rookie cards.

They sell them, I doubt kids are picking up 4 cases of base daily.

I'm sure many of them do. I guess if people who are buying into these breaks know that, it's all good. One of the reasons why I never join group breaks. I want EVERY. SINGLE. CARD. They may sit in a box for a very long time, but I paid for them dangit!

Well it was either Jaspy or Layton sports that said it when someone ask in the chatroom.

But still I know they give them away.

Why I only join breakers that send them all (outside of Houdini and his Bowman base)

When I bought into a break for my team (Packers) I would always make sure I got the base back. After looking through what I wanted which usually was little to nothing I would package all the base i got from a few breaks and send it to my local Children's hospital. I was told the kids love getting little stuff like that. I have no use for them so if I could make a child happy getting them so be it. Plus since they are non profit you could actually take the value of the cards off as a tax deduction too that way.

Great way to attract traffic into the store and really nice for the kids.

Well done by them.

I sort all the base and make sets and use them as a few more spots in the draft. The only base cards I keep are the ones that can't be made into a set and use them as filler cards when shipping to the break participants.

Brent of Brentandbecca posted somewhere an extensive description of what he does with it all. It might've been in these articles here, but I'm sure you can find it if you're curious. I can't recall exactly how that sort of stuff gets disposed of, but I think it involves bundling it into lots or trying to complete sets if he's close. He builds and presells a lot of base sets. Basically, if you're organized and motivated, you should be able to list and sell pretty much everything the week of release.

This is true, unfortunately for most though it becomes way too time consuming especially if you already have a full time job......I have about 15 boxes of base just sitting in my closet that I don't know what to do with lol
