Default Cardbooker's CGC SS collection

So I started out as a comic book collector and shifted to comic related non sports trading cards. I never cared too much about grading for either hobby, but CGC SS has got me very intrigued. I picked up 2 books already this month and have a 3rd on the way. I think this might be my main focus for a while =)

Gal Gadot

Chris Evans (SOLD!!) I wanted a movie photo cover so I upgraded to the Winter Soldier comic below

Chris Hemsworth

Slab broken. See post #21

Kate Beckinsale

Rob Liefeld

Chris Claremont

Henry Cavill

Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, GSP (smudged)

To be signed one day by Stan Lee

To be signed one day by Todd McFarlane

Tom Holland

To be signed one day by Krysten Ritter

Benedict Cumberbatch & Stan Lee!

Michael J. Fox

3rd book arrived =)

There are a couple more books that I'm watching on eBay. I'm starting to prefer this hobby over trading cards. Certified autograph? Check. Hard signed? Check. Less expensive? Check.

Hemsworth is Great!

Never u nderstood why autographed trading cards were so overvalued compared to other items signed by the same person...

I just picked up a 4th book. Arrow signed by Stephen Amell =)

I'm not too fond of the grade but it was really cheap and I couldn't pass it up. Heroes & Villains FanFest is coming up in December and I'm seriously thinking about cracking the slab and getting the book signed by the rest of the Arrow cast. What do you guys think? Is it a waste of an SS slab? If it was 9.0 or above, I probably wouldn't do it, but 8.5 seems like a good candidate.

Will CGC be at the event? Make sure you don't crack it yourself, needs to be witnessed.

I don't think its a waste of a slab.. if you really care about the grade maybe see if you can find a better copy and have everyone sign it.

Excellent point! Most people don't realize that and I've seen some be disappointed as they crack it before they get there.

How much does CGC SS submission cost? And is it a separate fee per additional signer? If it's a lot, I was just thinking about cracking it and getting the book signed raw for my PC. I don't think an 8.5 CGC SS cast signed would be worth much anyways. It seems that only 9.0 and up retain resale value.

I'll have to go look, but I think $38 for fast track, and yes, it's $5 extra per additional sig. You might consider having CCS press the book, it'll retain the yellow label and they might be able to bump up the grade for you

That sounds very reasonable. Thank you for the information. I'll definitely check in with CGC if they attend the show.

They charge extra per sig if you fast track?

The base price went up from $28 to to $30, right? Plus the shipping and invoice fees. For just one SS book, you are looking at a minimum of just over $50 which doesn't include any signer fees. If you are subbing multiple books it cuts the price down a lot because you only pay one invoice fee and $2 extra per book for shipping.

What an impressive start to the collection man. Kudos to not being a slave to that 9.8 and simply collecting books YOU like.

I was thinking the same... smart way to get the autographs that you want and save a ton of money. For celebrity signed stuff, I'm a big fan of that approach.

Just got my 7th book. I've always wanted this one too. Glad to have picked it up at a good price. X-Men #266 signed by Chris Claremont.

Well, I cracked the Arrow slab today. But it was worth it considering the book was only an 8.5 grade. I'm really happy with how the signatures turned out.

Stephen Amell, Emily Bett Rickards, & Willa Holland

In addition to the Arrow comic, I also got these books signed at the Heroes & Villains convention today in San Jose. CGC wasn't there, but I'm still very happy with the PC haul:

Jon Bernthal

Brandon Routh

Emma Dumont. Not a comic, but I love her in The Gifted

Wow, I had no idea her line was so long. I know Routh had a long line, I kept walking around and coming back hoping it'd be shorter and eventually just settled in and waited. He's incredibly nice and cheerful, especially for it being close to end of day.

Which Pops did you get signed? Any pics?
