Default aggie4ever's 2017 Black Friday breaks

I'll post all of my breaks of products I picked up during Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales here. For most of Black Friday, I was disappointed in the fairly poor non-sports sales. Especially sad that there weren't any cheap deals on Marvel/DC sketch products this year. But luckily I did check out Zenescope's sale on some 5finity sketch packs, and Friday evening Arrow Season 3 boxes went on sale, so picked up some of that. And after the first case of Arrow went well, decided to pick up a couple more.

List of what I picked up:
3x Arrow Season 3 cases
1x Panini Beach Boys case
2x Benchwarmer Eclectic boxes
1x Doctor Who Widevision set
2x 5finity Grimm Fairy Tales sketch packs
8x 5finity Ladies of Zenescope sketch packs

I'll add my breaks to this thread as I receive and break the products. Up first is a case of Arrow, that I was shocked to receive on Monday (initially expected to receive it today, so I feel like there was a tear in the space/time continuum or something!):

Arrow Season 3 case #1

box 1
Christina Cox as Mayor Celia Castle auto
cyan print plate for Felicity Smoak wardrobe card M03
Roy Harper wardrobe

box 2
Nick Tarabay as Digger Harkness/Captain Boomerang auto
John Diggle wardrobe

box 3
Christopher Heyerdahl as Damian Darhk's assistant auto
Felicity Smoak wardrobe

box 4
Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance auto
Al Sah-Him SP wardrobe #/49

box 5
Caity Lotz as The Canary auto
Maseo Yamashiro wardrobe

box 6
Jamey Sheridan as Robert Queen auto
Lyla Michaels & John Diggle dual wardrobe
Nyssa Al Ghul wardrobe

box 7
Adrian Glynn McMorran as Michael Amar/Murmur auto
(missing wardrobe hit)

box 8
Steven Culp as Senator Joseph Cray auto
Thea Queen wardrobe

box 9
Rila Fukushima as Tatsu Yamashiro auto
Arrow & Ra's Al Ghul dual wardrobe
Laurel Lance wardrobe

box 10
Francoise Yip as The Priestess auto
Roy Harper wardrobe

box 11
Karl Yune as Maseo Yamashiro auto
Dark Archer SP wardrobe #/99

box 12
Audrey Marie Anderson as Lyla Michaels auto
Tatsu Yamashiro wardrobe

Very happy with this case, even with the missing wardrobe card. A few really nice boxes, but also a few really bad boxes. But hitting 3 nice autos and 2 SP wardrobe, plus a nice print plate made it a good case. Hopefully the other cases will be as good!

5finity Grimm Fairy Tales sketch packs

Baba Yaga by Patrick Finch (5)
Demon by Danielle Ellison (10)

5finity Ladies of Zenescope sketch packs

Alice by Alfret Le (20)
Sela by Alfret Le (20)
Snow White by Barush Merling (20)

Glenda by Luro Hersal (20)
Little Mermaid by Bianca Thompson (8)

Mowglii by Kristin Allen (12)
Angel by Cliff Thomas (12)
Baba Yaga & Goblin Queen by Luro Hersal (20)

Very happy with the 5finity sketch packs, especially since I hit a few of the SP artists (number of sketch cards each artist did for the set is included in parenthesis). And, I hit a few by some of my favorite artists that I collect, so doubly happy!

Cryptozoic Arrow Season 3 case #2

Broke my second case, and it was a lot worse than the first one. Virtually all of the case breaks I had seen had 2-4 nice autos, plus 2 SP wardrobe, plus 2 dual wardrobe, and it seemed like a no-brainer at the Cyber Monday sale price. But this case had me second guessing myself right up till the end!

box 1:
Christopher Heyerdahl as Damien Darhk's Assistant auto
black print plate for insert card #Z5
Roy Harper wardrobe

box 2:
J.R. Ramirez as Ted Grant/Wildcat auto
Inflatable Punching Bag prop

box 3:
Audrey Marie Anderson as Lyla Michaels auto
Thea Queen wardrobe

box 4:
Karl Yune as Maseo Yamashiro auto
cyan print plate for card #05
Tatsu Yamashiro wardrobe

box 5:
Jamey Sheridan as Robert Queen auto
Maseo Yamashiro wardrobe

box 6:
Charlotte Ross as Donna Smoak auto
Aresenal wardrobe SP #/99

At this point I was starting to get worried... no big auto, no dual wardrobe, and two print plates was kinda strange, so I started to worry about there being a packing error with the case...

box 7:
Adrian Glynn McMorran as Michael Amar/Murmur auto
Al Sah-Him wardrobe SP #/49

box 8:
Nolan Gerard Funk as Cooper Seldon auto
Roy Harper wardrobe

At this point, I was resigned to this being a case with packing problems, and assumed I wouldn't hit any big autos. The SP wardrobe #/49 was nice though.

box 9:
Steven Culp as Senator Joseph Cray auto
Lyla Michaels wardrobe

box 10:
Nick E. Tarabay as Digger Harkness/Captain Boomerang auto
Donna Smoak wardrobe

box 11:
Bex Taylor-Klaus as Sin auto
Roy Harper wardrobe

Wow, not a single auto worth more than $15 in the case. And no dual wardrobe cards either. At this point I was pretty upset, and thinking about what I was going to post and/or e-mail to Cryptozoic blasting for putting a case like this out there. I was thinking to myself, there is literally only 1 auto I could hit that would keep this from being a total disaster... Felicity!

box 12:
Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak auto
Arrow & Ra's al Ghul dual wardrobe
Laurel Lance wardrobe

Whew! Saved by an amazing last box! Still slightly below average case, but with the strong box at the end plus the SP wardrobe #/49, I ended up being happy with the case.

Cryptozoic Arrow Season 3 case #3

Well, the third time was not a charm, this was the worst of the three cases. Wasn't saved by any last box magic (although the last box was one of the best in the case, and kept it from being a disaster). Still a decent case at the sale price, but it's a good thing the other two cases were better. I did at least hit 2 autos I hadn't hit in my previous cases, so that's a plus. Overall, I've hit at least 1 of every auto except for the 2 Katrina Law autos.

box 1:
Charlotte Ross as Donna Smoak auto
Felicity Smoak wardrobe

box 2:
Nick E. Tarabay as Digger Harkness/Captain Boomerang auto
John Diggle wardrobe

box 3:
Bex Taylor-Klaus as Sin auto
Lyla Michaels & John Diggle dual wardrobe
Roy Harper wardrobe

box 4:
Karl Yune as Maseo Yamashiro auto
Nyssa Al Ghul wardrobe

box 5:
Steven Culp as Senator Joseph Culp auto
(missing wardrobe card)

box 6:
Christopher Heyerdahl as Damien Darhk's assistant auto
Felicity Smoak wardrobe

box 7:
Christina Cox as Mayer Celia Castle auto
Lyla Michaels wardrobe

box 8:
J.R. Ramirez as Ted Grant/Wildcat auto
yellow print plate for card #Z6
Thea Queen wardrobe

box 9:
Amy Gumenick as Carrie Cutter/Cupid auto
Boxing Glove prop SP #/49

box 10:
Doug Jones as Jake Simmons/Deathbolt auto
Donna Smoak wardrobe

box 11:
Froncoise Yip as The Priestess auto
Wildcat Gym Pamphlet prop SP #/99

box 12:
Rila Fukushima as Tatsu Yamashiro auto
Inflatable Punching Bag prop

Well, there you go. Guess I should have stopped after the first case. But I love the show, and couldn't pass it up at the nice sale price. Definitely bummed about a second missing wardrobe card, hopefully Cryptozoic comes through on those. I just need to figure out how to make a claim for them...

Send an email to Cryptozoic support and they will replace the missing hit for you. They are really good about that

I can't believe Zenescope still had those packs. They haven't had them at conventions.

I'm surprised they haven't brought them to any of the conventions this year as well. I saw them in stock on their website several months ago, and kept checking for sales. I also remember from last year or the year before that some people said they put their packs on sale for Black Friday, so when I saw them on sale, I put in an order.

I was going to put in another order on Thanksgiving, since they were giving away a free comic as a bonus with any order, but I was traveling and by the time I got to my destination, they were sold out of the Ladies of Zenescope packs.

They still had GFT packs, but those are much more hit or miss IMO. There are some big artists, but they are mostly SP; and a few artists who did a larger number that I'm not a fan of; and a few too many sketches of random monsters/demons instead of main characters.

Added the second Arrow Season 3 case to the first post. Way worse than the first case, but with a strong ending, not a bad case!

I bought 10 packs each of GFT and LoZ from the Zenescope sale. The difference in sketch quality was almost like night and day. I think I had 3 keepers from GFT and 7 or 8 from LoZ.

Wasn't this GFT set the one that most of the best sketches went straight to the dealers?

Well, 5finity has been doing that for the last several sets the past two years. Where a handful of artists do only 3 cards each, and those go to the top 3 dealers. And while I agree that on the GFT set, the dealer sketch list included a lot of high end artists, that doesn't really explain the difference in quality between the two sets.

It really came down to the artist list on pack inserted cards for each set. There is a reason I bought 8x LoZ and only 2x GFT, and that was based on the artist lists (and by extension the expected sketch quality). I did do a couple of GFT to try to get lucky and hit one of the SP higher end artists (and I got lucky and hit one by Patrick Finch).

But the LoZ set IMO was helped out a lot by the inclusion of the group of artists from Mexico (Alfret Le, Barush Merling, Israel Arteaga, Jose Carlos Sanchez, Luro Hersal, and Siliceb), who each did the max number of cards (20 each). All of these artists do nice work, and 60% of the pack inserted cards are done by them. Then add in some other good artists like Bill Maus, Kristin Allen, Bianca Thompson, etc who did 8-12 cards each, and you're up to like 75% of the cards should be expected to be of nice quality.

In any case, I hope you'll post your break, I would love to see what you pulled!

You open your Beach Boys case yet? I got 5 cases all with 1 Autograph but got 4 plates. Very disappointing. My needs can be found at

Let me know as I am sure we can help each other on a few sets.

I got the case on Wednesday, and I am about halfway through so far. Luckily I did hit 2 autos, so I avoided the 1 auto case (was really worried after reading about your breaks and the other guy who also had the same thing). Still no luck hitting Brian Wilson, still haven't hit him after 4 cases. But I seem to have a lot of luck with Mike Love, I hit him in all 4 cases!

I'll probably finish the case this weekend, and hopefully get it all sorted. Although it might be more like early next week.

I'll keep the more important stuff in my first post, and add the other smaller item breaks here.

2x Benchwarmer Ecclectic boxes

box 1 hit pack:

Eclectic swatch: Jaime Hammer
autos: Brooke Morales, Ryan Shamrock, Melissa Riso, Paige Peterson, Nikki Leigh #/25, Carolyn Martin, Heather Rae Young, Cassandra Lynn

bonus hits from sealed packs in box 1:

swatch: Michelle Baena
autos: Tamie Sheffield, Teal Druda (missing auto), Claudia Jordan, Tiffany Selby, Torrie Wilson, Tamie Sheffield

box 2 hit pack:

Eclectic swatch: Cecille Gahr
autos: Billie Jo Powers, Talor Marion, Ramona Michelle, Sabrina Rose, Alex Capriola, Flo Jalin, Anna Sophia Berglund, Jessica Kinni

bonus hits from sealed packs in box 2:

autos: Dessie Mitcheson, Trudi Pallas, Carrie Minter, Amber Goetz, Sandra Bentley, Candi Jones, Suzanne Le

Doctor Who Widevision box

Tommy Knight as Luke Smith bronze auto #/25
Debbie Chazen as Foon Van Hoff blue auto

Panini Beach Boys case

#7 Mike Love auto #/70
#5 David Marks auto #/70
magenta print plate for card #55

Also lots of duplicate concert gear cards:
1 (2), 2 (2), 3 (2), 4 (2), 5, 6 (3), 7 (3), 8 (4), 10 (2), 11 (3), 13 (3), 16 (2), 17, 18 (3), 19 (3), 20 (3)
so missing 9, 12, 14, 15

So after 5 cases of Beach Boys, I still haven't hit a Brian Wilson auto... but I did hit a Mike Love auto in all 5 cases. At least I avoided any 1 auto cases though!

Added the third Arrow case and the Beach Boys case to the thread. The third Arrow case was the worst of the three, but was still decent with 2 good autos and 2 SP wardrobe cards, just a bummer not to get any of the main character autos.
