Default eBay user to block: cupcrazy

User likes to buy high dollar items and pay via eCheck in hopes that a seller will send without the payment clearing. The user then cancels the eCheck before the clearing date or after they receive notification that the seller won't be sending before the payment clears.

Pretty shady person.

I don't care if a buyer has 100,000 feedback with a 100% rating. I will never ship before an e-check clears.

I 100% agree. Looks like they are just fishing for that one person who doesn't quite know what they are doing.

Damn--they just bought one of mine and paid with an eCheck. I never ship before that clears though. Thanks for the head's up.

From talking with some other forum members and from my personal experience with them, once you send them an email saying you are waiting for the eCheck to clear, they cancel the transaction.

Yep--they did the same to me on Sunday. I didn't get any notification from PayPal about it and didn't notice it until your post. Thanks again!

Do you get a different notice in eBay "items waiting for shipping" that they paid with an eCheck?

Yeah, PayPal sends you a special email saying you should not ship until the eCheck clears and that they will send another email when it does clear.

I didn't get a notification from PayPal that this user cancelled their eCheck though, which is weird considering they usually are pretty good about that.

Yes you would be notified, but you would also get dinged and/or banned from Ebay. Since E-check is a form of payment through Paypal and you ARE accepting Paypal as a form of payment in your auctions.

Get this clowns personal information and post it. Someone should call his azz and bust him out and see why he is trying to scam others. Probably fake info on the 2nd part

E check is through paypal...

The funny thing is most people don't know this...

It takes 5-7 days to clear....

But if you call paypal you can hook your check or savings up to paypal...

And pay the same way through your bank...

BUT IT HAPPENS RIGHT AWAY... With in seconds

Not sure why there is echeck anymore...

I purchased a high value card and it processed as an e-check versus taking it directly from my checking like it usually does. I think the only way to completely avoid sending an e-check is having the funds in your paypal account.

This is echeck, if you don't have the funds in PP and pay through your checking or saving account instead of a CC or Debit Card. Funds needs to be verified and cleared. You pretty much answered your own ?.... And no it is not within seconds, i've been using PP since the beginning of time and often had to use Bank VS CC or Debit Card and it's always taken several days for approval.

yeah my only experience with e-check was positive...it was weird at first seeing it and I did get the paypal email notification about it, but when I contacted the buyer and told him that I'm not shipping till it clears he was totally cool with it

When paypal pulls money from my bank account, it is instant. I do not wait days or even minutes. I can buy anything on eBay using my bank account and not wait.

I also receive echecks that do take days.

There is some difference between the way my account is set up through my bank/paypal and the way some others are. Just like the guy above stated.

An eCheck is basically a direct electronic funds transfer from your bank to the recipient's PP account.

Let's say you have $0.00 in your PP account, and send a payment using your bank account (with a credit card as a backup funding source). When you send a payment to someone, Paypal essentially chances that you have the money in your account. They don't check immediately, they just send whatever amount you want to your recipient. A short time after (seconds to minutes) they take the money from your account to cover their debt. This would be an indirect transfer.

That is the difference between eChecks and regular Paypal.

Dang....he bought my Harper AFLAC auto off eBay. Of course, he paid by eCheck and it says "in process of clearing" on Paypal. I will absolutely not ship until it clears.

Check out my eBay listings and recently sold items. You'll see that cupcrazy or whatever his name is, bought it.

Thanks for the tip bradical!

I have emailed him after he paid with the eCheck and told him I wasn't sending until the check cleared. Paypal still says "in process."

I believe you have to build up trust with Paypal before the "instant transfer" is available. No idea what the requirements are but for me it appeared a couple years ago. I can now buy anything whether I have the funds in my Paypal account or not. The seller gets paid immediately and then I see the funds come out of my bank account a day or 2 later.
