Default What do You look for when Selecting a Box of Cards

There are a lot of superstitions in this hobby.

Do you guys look for anything before decided on which box to pick when you have the option?

For me, when I go to the card shop knowing I'm going to buy a box, I always look to see which number the serial number on the sticker ended with. I have my favorite numbers which I thought brought good luck, but recently I haven't had much when it comes to boxes!

Just curious if any of you are like me, or if you just purchase the first box available to you.

Whichever one will hold back the tears and feeling of being completely ripped off.

Most of the times if I go somewhere there are not many available and I buy them all. Never leave the last box though!!

I go for the ones that have the stars showing on top....because that worked out so good for me in the late 80s and early 90s;

I go for the heaviest box of Triple Threads or Topps Museum
Seeing as how no self respecting dealor/LCS will let you do this though, I so the serial number thing too and then I open all of them because who wants to end on a bad note?

Haha I used to go to a shop where the guy didn't care if you weighed them with your hands but the owner shut it down.

I always go for the 2nd box or pack. There is absolutely no valid scientific reason for this superstition however.

I always ask the lcs to pick me the best box. When they pick it, I ask " are you sure that's the one?" They will either say yes or give me a different box. I always have them pick it for me.

That's hilarious and awesome in so many ways.

Brings back some baddish flashbacks for me, which wrapped in nostalgia after all these years are actually strangely pleasant.

I look for the ones that don't say "Panini."

I bring a scale to weigh the boxes.
Then I get out my handy dandy metal detector to check for plates.

I usually buy my boxes online since LCS is so overprice here.

Haha, there's a place in hell for those Target/Walmart card sharks that use all those tactics to weed out all the hits.
