I was more upset when I read the military had to pay the NFL $5.4 million to have US soldiers 'honored'..

Kaepernick must be a special kind of stupid to do this. There are so many ways that he can be proactive, make a more positive impact in the community and make awareness of inequality among minorities. Sitting down during our national anthem is not one of them, that's just a wuss move by him.

Can we get some of these guys some safe spaces? Colin seemed to trigger some people with his actions.

Couldnt agree more..

His actions did alot more harm than good, despite him having the right, and the privilege to voice them with words or actions.

You don't disrespect the flag because the country that flies it has problems.
I would even go as far as saying that our countries problems (and we have many) pale in comparison to the rest of the world.

Kaepernick needs to do something to get attention, bc he sure isn't getting it with his shitty football play. As others have said, if he has a problem with the country, then move to one he likes, even though this one made him a millionaire.

Lot of sensitive, upset white males on here. Most of this thread reads like a Donald Trump convention.

Nobody has said you people do not have the right to disagree with him.

You guys have called for him to be fired and for people to leave the country if they don't like the way things are instead of trying to prompt change and make the country better.

I never said Hitler, Nazi or Germany and never implied/meant to imply such. What Kapernick did and said was politically incorrect, not illegal in this democracy. He would have had major repercussions in any totalitarian state.

How do internet forum users flaming about his actions help their cause? Do the strongly worded posts in this thread change anything or make the user feel better about themselves?

Do you guys stand up and salute everytime the national anthem comes on your television? I truly do not see the difference. I stand and take my cap off but I recognize the right in this country to do simply not stand.

I am truly sorry that some of you guys do not understand the original intent and practical application of the 1st amendment and the constitutional rights guaranteed to all Americans. Our country was founded by dissenters who were sick of being told what they could/couldn't say and many men and women then and since have given their life for Colin Kaepernick and everyone else to have the right to have freedom. This is an example of freedom in the real world.

First and foremost I'm not black. This is the United States and he he's the right to his expression of opinion, one that I'm not in favor of. Many Heroes " Soldiers, Police, Fireman, etc" have sacrificed their lives for all the different people that live in our nation. Kapernik needs to check out the gravestones of those who have sacrificed and I would bet not a single stone describes: race, religion, etc. ! Kapernik has the ability to speak freely not because of the sprinkling of idiots that need to understand that we are ALL in this thing called "LIFE" together. I will pray for Kap, and hope he will honor those who sacrificed for everbody !
Doug

Had somebody contact me that in Arlington Cemetary, there are gravestones with Religion on them. I was there when I was younger and didn't notice them. I am THANKFUL for all the heroes who have fought for each of us and I do salute the flag for their sacrifice.

One of the most sensible things I've read in this piling heap of a thread thus far.

Was it distasteful? Perhaps. Did Colin have some deep underlying ulterior motive? Could be. But he has every right to do what he did, just as any other American who shares this soil, so long as the Constitution guarantees him/her those rights.

Probably just as many minority males who claim all of their problems are because of whitey...

2 things...

1) We have every right to criticize him
2) The 49ers have every right to cut him because of this, since they are a private entity. Freedom of speech is a protection against the government, not your employer. Although, I don't think this is worthy of being cut for, even though I wouldn't care if he was, but he's not protected by the 1st amendment for what the 49ers do.
