I just did a google search.

There appears to be a ton of obstructed view lockers.

Just curious how you and horny think they are outdated and that is the reason why players choose New York over Boston.

Doesn't seem to make any sense...

What a mess and I can't help but think back to last winter when I hoped to see the Sox sign Encarnacion. They knew they had to replace Papi and they were too cheap to spend 3/60 on Encarnacion and now this year 5/125 doesn't look like it'll buy Martinez. 2 years shorter deal and 5 mil less in AAV w/ Encarnacion hitting 38 homers and knocking in 107 runs in year 1 of the deal. Yeah, he's a DH but they needed to replace a DH (albeit the best of alltime) and Martinez can't field now, so any idea of him playing OF for the full contract is a pipe dream.

Unless DD can swing a trade for a big bat (not holding my breath seeing how bad the farm system is), he's over a barrel because they can't run out the same punchless lineup as last year and expect to make a run in the postseason. This is Boston. The goal isn't winning the East, it's to win the WS.

Couldn't have said it better.

Boston can't go into this without some kind of upgrades, they need to be able to match the Yankees. Also even be able to match the Astros and Indians which as we have seen has been a struggle

I personally feel that the "upgrades" are going to come with their current roster.
I think you will see better years from:

Betts
Benintendi
Bogaerts
Bradley
Hanley

All of these guys had down years. They are going to hit.

If you're banking on all of them to have big years, that's overly optimistic and the Sox front office is not in a position where they can afford that gamble, especially when you consider that Kimbrel and Pomeranz are FAs after this year and Sale will be after '19. If they had a 30-40 HR bat in that lineup, the likelihood of those guys having big years increases and the roster is better equipped for competing before the window closes.

Funny you should mention EE. There was a story on WEEI today about a trade involving JBJ for him.

I'd do it in a heartbeat. Make that trade, assuming the rest of the haul isn't insane and sign JD Martinez. Power issues solved.

Now defense, well that's another story

DH and LF, but they can’t really afford both - unless they shed Hanley’s contract most likely.

Plus I’ll assume that this is really just posturing by the Sox.

Time to stop messing around and get JD signed! Also, I kinda want to see them offer Mous a one year deal as well...flip flop the 3B, 1B, RF, DH spots between:

JD
Mous
Hanley
Devers
Mitch

This off-season has been so frustrating! What the heck has Dombroski been doing? We are in desperate need of a bat and JD fits that perfectly! why are we pinching pennies????

The starter obviously, but JD can spell him in RF when he needs a rest day.

Why though? Harper, Machado, Kershaw, etc are not going to sign in Boston.
