Default Speculation: Books that COULD have potential

Any one have any books in mind that could have the potential to be hot due to a tv show or movie to sit on? Or that could spike interest just because. Just curious.

Anything with Thanos origins, The Mandarin is the villain in Iron Man this summer. Guardians of the Galaxy origins.

Thief of Thieves and Revival already in pre-production; both have gone way up in less than a year of being published, but still very low production numbers compared to Marvel and DC. If Walking Dead #1 is a $1500 NM book, then buying ToT at $60 and Revival at $15 is still worth the price. I've heard Chew is in the prcoess of being made into a TV series, but I honestly don't see how it can work as such; amazing writing, but just too "far-out-comic-booky" to me.

I think quite a few people on these boards have said it and it makes perfect sense; Load up on any Image Comics #1 that is on the rise; they are very low production with way, way better writing than DC and Marvel these days.

Walking Dead #1 was $3 in 2003, now $1500

Chew #1 was $3 in 2009, now $450

Peter Panzerfaust #1 was $3 less than a year ago, now $115

Thief of Thieves, Revival, Saga, Manhattan Projects, Fatale = Currently high dollar but initially cheap investments

What's next? Nowhere Men, Bedlam, Happy, Clone, Todd the Ugliest Kid on Earth (I agree with Indy, I like this one)

I feel like you could perhaps double your money on key Marvel first appearances that are coming out as movies such as Thanos, Mandarin, Winter Soldier(Bucky), Malekith, Electro (Jamie Foxx playing a formerly caucasian villain?), etc. Nonetheless, just see what solid Image #1's are doing, and more improtantly, pick up the first few issues and read them yourself to determine if they have great writing and lasting power. Good luck, let us know if you dive headfirst into a certain series.

Can't go wrong sitting on Think Tank either. Very low print run.

While we're on the subject of Walking Dead. Not sure how this will play into the TV series because it's quite different from the comic, but Walking Dead #53 and #92 are increasing in value. #92 especially. 1st appearances of characters who appear in the TV show (53) or will be a michonne-esque character (92)

91 is the first appearance although brief, so it'll be on the rise too. 3 months ago it was a 7-10 book..

Rumors say it's in the works. I believe it's the same team that helped bring Walking Dead to tv. NBC passed on Walking Dead and I'm sure they are kicking themselves for it.

Just bought a NM copy of this to hold on to. $13 with shipping I felt was a decent enough deal. Though, it is coming across the pond. Here is to hoping it gets here in that NM condition

fpnyc.com NY Forbidden Plan is good. They give you a free comic with every order. They even gave me a signed copy of one of the books I ordered free of charge. They do sell out quickly, so I haven't shopped there in a while, but they are good guys.

If you can get a good deal on some Bedlam #1's which is basically below cover now, I don't think it would hurt to stock up. Cheap investment that could pay off

Ended up getting 1 for $7 shipped, to store away. As you say, it could pay off.
