Default Christmas Time!

Hey guys,
I need some help! I've been trying to figure out some good boxes to get for my boyfriend for christmas. Hes a big Eagles fan, (congrats on the OUTSTANDING win last night), big with newer football products and just loves collecting football cards.
I take up the enjoyment of collecting them with him but I need some ideas to make his christmas extra special!

The years I'm guessing he likes are around 2006-2010 a big enough frame of time to get LOTS of ideas!

Football only!

Thanks alot!!

What kind of budget do you have in mind for these boxes? This will help with our suggestions.

Topps Finest or Absolute are the best IMO, and then some Eagles autos on top of the boxes

i think you should split your budget between a couple products (09 or 08 over 2010 for better Eagles' rookies) and some great singles (auto's or patches) that would guarantee he gets some nice Eagles' stuff

i would say 09 SP Authentic for a chance at some nice eagle patches, or even 09 SPX. if you can find it i really like 09 Certified.

i agree with the guy who said to buy a couple singles. as for boxes, def go with 2008 or 2009, with 2009 having two nice rookies to pull for the eagles

I agree with 2009 SP Authentic (about 100 a box) - 2009 has Lesean Mccoy & Jeremy Maclin RCs. Since you said "200 a peice" you could get one HIGH END product like 2009 exquisite or 2009 National Treasures ($300+ a piece). The exquisite would be a jaw dropper i would imagine...

I would suggest giving him the money and let him surf Ebay or other collector sites for the cards he is interested in. Buying boxes is hit or miss (mostly miss) but they are sure fun to open. You could also try to find a certified autographed helmet or jersey of his favorite player for that kind of money.

You could probably find them here for less hassle and less cost. Just post a thread in the Football B/S/T section sating you are looking for eagles cards.

Probably here, and anytime a nice Eagles gets pulled in a break, PM the person who got it, try to get first dibs on it

I wouldnt get Certified, Its kind of a bust IMHO this year, they made to much of it. Just start watching for singles of players. I have a nice Lesean McCoy limited auto patch from 2009 Limited in my bucket. Id sell that cheap. Maclin or McCoy arent to hard to find and you can get decent prices on them

I agree, I watched most of ccrab's case break, maybe 1/4 of the boxes had a decent hit that sells for $30 or more, but a lot of $5-$10 hits, and 4 of those per box doesn't cut it

IMHO, not being a full-fledged football collector but sports collector nonetheless knowing full well the mentality of the adult fanboy...

At @400 budget;
$100 -1 box 2009 SP Authentic for him to try to get a good Eagles RC pull
$45 - 1 box 2008 UD Masterpieces hobby box as a fun box break
$90 -$100 - One Eagles Fathead for his game watching room, this is one item guys are hesitant to purchase for themselves but if gifted, yes sir...
Philadelphia Eagles - NFL - Fathead Official Site
$100 - singles featuring auto/patches of McCoy, Maclin, Jackson. for example...
2009 Bowman Sterling Gold DUAL AUTO McCoy Maclin Eagles - eBay (item 120648166570 end time Nov-18-10 20:44:51 PST)
LESEAN MCCOY 09 SP AUTHENTIC ROOKIE AUTO PATCH 23/999 - eBay (item 280591162168 end time Nov-18-10 17:25:22 PST)
2009 LESEAN MCCOY FINEST AUTO RED REFRACTOR LTR Y /10 - eBay (item 320515042152 end time Dec-05-10 16:24:23 PST)

Leaving $50 in the budget and one happy Eagles fan at home.

A quick bump and update....

There is a Fathead code today for Fathead Nation email subscribers that gives you 25% off and free shipping today only. Adds another $25 into the budget.

Those 2 example Ebays ended nice and cheap. Could have had all three cards for $100 I bet.

My girlfriend did a mix of cards and auto'd stuff. She was totally clueless about what boxes to get but she did some recon like what you're doing. It was an awesome mix and definitely a sweet surprise. BCSports.com has a nice autographed mini helmet of Randall Cunningham on sale for $72.99. But continue to shop around and stay on your toes especially during black friday.

I would take your budget, go on ebay and buy a couple of eagles lots and individual auto's .

Then buy him one box to open. SP authentic football is a good choice.

Well my girlfriend had great intentions but she bought me single packs from target........so do not buy retail lady!!! But from ebay.....or go to blowoutcards.com they have one of the cheapest boxes and it seems people get more good hits.....ebay is a good option but just make sure you look at the seller's ratings....
