Default Has anyone ever had to make a USPS Insurance claim?

So I sold a large lot of Game Used and Autographed cards to a member on here who is in very good standing. He has 600+ positive feedback on here and has over 1,000 on Ebay and is relatively well known around the community. Anyhow, I shipped this lot in a Priority Mail Flat Rate Box Insured for $50 (The whole lot totaled $55). The buyer received an empty box and has filed an inquiry on both of our behalf with the USPS. Has anyone ever had this happen? What's your experience with having to deal with USPS insurance claims? I'm not jumping the gun and saying the goods were stolen, but I was wondering if they were what the next best course of action would be.

I'll be finding out soon as I'll have to file my 1st claim in 18 years of selling online lol Hope it works out! Sadly with everything gone you'll still be out the cards.

Best of luck to you, but don't expect much. I've had to file a few claims for my work, and the only ones we've ever received payment on were orders where the USPS damaged the package and sent one of their "Oops, we did this, here are the remains" bags.

Even on those, they tried to fight back and it took weeks to get resolved. They made us wait while they searched their damaged package processing plant and local post offices for contents. If you didn't have an invoice printed and inside the package, you may also be out of luck as they usually want some sort of official transaction record. I've never tried it with a PayPal receipt and forum messages.

I had to do it once on 2 separate Large Flat Rate boxes that were both part of one order. They paid out pretty quickly and painlessly. So essentially, I lost nothing and the buyer got his money back

Had a nice rare packers booklet that was damaged in shipping and postmaster kept telling me she didn't see any damage .No matter how many times I pointed it out to her ,she said the card looked fine .Was fully insured but I never got jack from them!
