How about a giveaway for the lovers of non sports cards?

ok so i call this idea of mine

FANTASY CARD FOOTBALL!!!!

heres how it works

u start out with 4 groups
There can be 20 participants in each group.

Then .... each of the 20 users in each group will make a nfl, nba, mlb, or nhl lineup (all the lineups have to be in same sport so u should say what sport it is)

then everyday each person faces another person in there group so u compare lineups and then !!!! THE USERS SHOULD VOTE ON WHO HAS THE BEST LINEUPS

then after 19 days the teams would have played everyone else in there group (each team plays another team 1 time and each team has 1 game a day)

then after the 19 days then we have 4 people from each group move to the playoffs then they play the playoffs and whoever wins in the 1st 2nd and 3rd places can get prizes like heres a suggestion on what 1st 2nd and third should be rewarded

1st
1 case that cost lower than $400

2nd
half of boxes out of a case under $350

3rd
3 boxes that the total cost is under $175

What card company revolutionized cards of today, year and why.

Baseball had to be Donruss and the chase for the Elite cards
Football and Basketball toss up between Wild Card (stripes) and Classic (auto's and Shaq's first rookie).

I like the "who/what got you collecting" contest .. Who turned you on to collecting or what got you into the hobby and who have you inspired to collect

If you wanted to do a non sports how about "what would your dream set be" - your favorite movie or tv show and how would you make the set (what kind of inserts, whose autographs, costume cards etc.)

NBA PLAY-OFFS PROMO similar to the NCAA march madness promo. I want to have an NBA Finals promo too but can't think of how to do it. maybe do it like the superbowl but since the NBA has a best of 7 series we need to work on that.

Christmas promo, similar to Halloween and Cornecopia..but get rid of some of the 50-80 dollar crap boxes and be a little more generous since the holidays are a time of giving

Maybe you can do something like a golden ticket type giveaway (if it hasn't been done already). Have like 200 boxes/cases that you guys choose available for sale at asking price under blowouts specials. Buying one of those boxes is an entry for this promotion, once all of the boxes/cases for this promotion is sold, then you guys will send out the boxes/case, but 10-20 of them will have a golden ticket which puts you in a 10-20 person random that will give-away a case/box/giftcard.

Similar to halloween/cornucopia but with a twist, letting us choose the boxes/cases that you guys made availabe for the promotion but a chance at winning a giveaway. Just an idea.

My idea is a New Year's Collecting Resolution. Ask people what their plan is for their hobby-related activities in the upcoming year and why. Also include what people hope to see from the card companies in 2013 and what you hope to see here on the site. Regardless of the compensation I feel like this would generate the type of discussion and introspective thought we all need from time to time (as well as some feedback on what people think about the direction of the site, albeit obviously solicited). Thanks for putting this thread up!
