He has the plate discipline. His main problem has been the hitch in his swing. Last year he focused on improving defense so he didn't work on the swing. However, fixing his swing has been his focus this offseason. The eye is there, so if he can adjust his swing accordingly he should improve drastically this year. I hope at least!

I just hope he can stick behind the plate in the bigs. That should still be his main focus this upcoming year. Improve the defense!

I've heard this as well. He does work himself into late counts, and the more you do that, the more you strike out (and walk). He also seems to get into it with minor league umps some (he does know the strike zone better than them, to be sure). Wish he would be more aggressive early in the count. He does have the raw tools.

Yeah, agreed, but unfortunately for me they don't come to Jacksonville until August and surely, Jimenez and others will likely be promoted by then. Stupid Southern League money saving schedules. Guess I can get acquainted with Mobile and Pensacola yet again.

How is that possible with Gordon? Wasn't he a top 20 prospect on their midseason list last year? Are they putting too much stock in his poor second half?

2 is a jump, for sure, but OPS of >.800 in Elizabethtown as an 18 yo is pretty damn good.

Two lists in one day. From BA's JJ Cooper -

With the Astros and Pirates rumored to be completing a trade that would send righthander Gerrit Cole to the Pirates, here’s a sneak peak at what was our soon-to-be-released Astros Top 10 Prospects list. It’s very possible that we will have to adjust the rankings.

Houston Astros Top 10 Prospects

1. Forrest Whitley, RHP
2. Kyle Tucker, OF
3. Yordan Alvarez, 1B/OF
4. J.B. Bukauskas, RHP
5. Freudis Nova, SS
6. Jairo Solis, RHP
7. Hector Perez, RHP
8. Jorge Alcala, RHP
9. Colin Moran, 3B/1B
10. David Paulino, RHP

Still don't see the need for Gordon, would like to see him moved for some pitching. Like seeing Gonsalves that higb, but honestly think he should be above Kirilloff

Digging that Twins list. It's not elite and super deep anymore after graduating Buxton, Rosario, Kepler, Sano, Berrios, etc, but it's still a solid list. Looking forward to seeing these guys grow

I'm not putting too much stock in the Twins list. It was done by Mike Berardino who covers the Twins major league team for the Pioneer Press but he himself likely hasn't seen any of these players in a game situation. I like Mike as a writer but not sure he should provide much minor league input. I still think Gordon is currently higher than Javier but I think that could change this season. It is nice to see them in the top half of the league again overall.

Good catch on it being written by Berardino. I didn't even notice that when I looked at the list. I'm curious as to why they would choose to have a local Minnesota writer do the prospect list when he doesn't cover the minor leagues at all.

Same for me. I assume this is what happens when your big league club gets good again. Four years ago I could have top you who the top 30 were.

Yeah he did last years chat but didn't put together the list last year which is why there were a lot of big changes. I know he put in his time asking scouts questions to compile the list but I'd rather it be put together by someone who has at least seen some of these guys play in a minor league game.

Interesting they put Whitley above Tucker. I was curious who would be 1 and who would be 2.

Am I the only one who finds it amazing Ohtani doesn't lead any categories in BA's "Best Tools" section? Those categories cover pitching, hitting and defense. Weird.
