Default 1993-94 Finest Box - Rip or Hold!?

snagged one of these this week. I ripped so many of these at 10-20$ a pack back in the day so a box felt like a bargain!

I didn't pull squat back then so I'm totally due! But in reality, I'm on the fence for breaking it or holding it because why would it be any diff haha..

anyway, rip or hold?!

tough call. If I remember right refractors were one per box so pulling a decent player would be tough.

According to Beckett they fall roughly 1:9 7-card packs and 1:4 14-card packs, so yeah there should be several in a box.

I cracked this very box at Christmas of last year. Cards weren't stuck together.....hulking WAS present immediately.

I hit x3 refractors.....best was a Mitch Richmond subset. One base Penny, 1 base Webber, one base Jordan.

It was a BRUTAL break, but interesting for the nostalgia.

My advice.......FLIP IT.

Rip it if you're after a fun nostagia trip

Flip it if you are after profit.

I've never been able to sell any sealed boxes, because I just have too much fun opening them even at a loss (which they almost always are). For that box, I'd crack for a chance at an MJ, Webber or Penny refractor. Would just be a cool feeling to actually pack pull one.

Financially your expected value is far higher if you sell it... but what if there's a Jordan in there and you missed the chance to pack pull it? Ouch.

Depends on why you bought it. But if I picked up a box of 93 finest I'd definitely bust it as it would be a fun bust.

well - i've been watching them sporadically and they were going for high 100's and into the 200's + shipping over the last 6 months if i recall.

stumbled upon it for 160 shipped (i think they have a couple left actually) so i thought i couldn't get too hurt either way.

Honestly, you bought it for $160. Maybe you flip it for $190 and after fees and shipping you've lost money. Why buy it for $160 if you're not gonna rip it? Only other option would be to hold on to it for another 10 years, but that ain't happening.

Right. I wasn't thinking of flipping now. If I decided to hold it, i would just lock it away and forget about it for a few years.

Rip because you might hit a refractor of the cover boy - Player #1 Team NBA.

Someone please explain how Topps could have licensing for the individual cards but not the boxes and packs.
Yes I'm assuming there was a licensing issue because if not that's an insane decision. I know they rushed certain players into the set last minute but don't see how that could explain the cover choice, since that would imply something that didn't have to be expedited.

too funny. like "BULLS GUARD" in the old NBA video games. or ROSTER CENTER when Shaq wasn't available. clearly that is supposed to be CWEBB!

The cover boy for 93 Finest is Rodney Rogers. I think they expected him to go high, be a star etc. they weren't sure which team, and first year Finest was definitely different. Looks like a quick mock up for design using Rogers, that looks like a MS paint turd.
