We can see why you are saying that Jack is the best. Nice card, you posted, but it still does not make it true.

Just enjoy the ride man, its actually quite fun to watch. Like a good book you dont know how it ends.

Throwing cards/hobby aside. I guess the WGC is the equivalent to the la quinta invitational that you mention. Well I guess the 18 World Golf Championships he's won fits in that category? (top 60 players get to play in a WGC)

If you go by your rational, of majors I guess the following are all better then MJ.

Bill Russell - 11 Championships
Sam Jones - 10 Championships
Tom Heinsohn. K. C. Jones. Tom Sanders, John Havlicek - 8 Championships
Jim Loscutoff, Frank Ramsey, Robert Horry - 7 Championships
Michael Jordan - 6 Championships

Just enjoy it man... as they say Jack moved the needle! But Tiger is the needle.

This is laughable. Apparently this is a character competition? Tell that to the tens of millions that only watch golf when Tiger plays.

Lets talk about Jordan. Might read: DON'T CONFUSE GREATNESS WITH CLASS

Don't Confuse Greatness with Class: Why Michael Jordan Is No Dimaggio | Bleacher Report

Jordan also made the list of sex scandals. Few other good ones there.

http://www.cbsnews.com/pictures/sports-sex-scandals/

I guess you live in a glass house.

Thing is Tiger has end to end stats to back him up as the GOAT in golf. All the Anti-Tigers have is emotion and he is a bad guy arguments. The Anti-Tiger people don't even know any of Jack's stats. They just know the Major win #. All you people saying Jack is the GOAT. Is it because you don't like Tiger? Because it sure is not because of statistics.

Phil should be in jail.

Glad to see Tiger is turning it around. He keeps this up, he will be banging waffle house waitresses again in no time!

majors. its the only that needs to be known. again, reread the thread and regurgitate all tigers stats and realize he doesnt have the only one that matters and in by doing so it really shows you reaching.

end argument

By your standards Jordan is not even in the top 8. That is why he was brought up.

Tiger is GOAT. Jack might have four more majors but nobody has flipped an entire sport on its head like Tiger did. Before he hit the scene nobody watched golf, prize money was pocket change, and golf was frankly boring as hell. He single handidly changed all that. Watching Tiger in a red shirt sinking some ridiculous putt to win a major and fist pumping while thousands of screaming fans in the galleries go apesh*t... Jack, for all his greatness, never generated that level of excitement or hype.

Tiger Woods is to Golf what O.J. Simpson is to Football

He may have great stats, and at one time fans loved him, but he's a shell of who he used to be professionally and as a celebrity.

He has a legacy and won't be forgotten, but is held to enough disdain after the height of his popularity where I don't think he's a solid investment at current prices nor will have a resurgence in popularity off the green nor success on the green.

Majors being the only stat that matters..lol. Go back under your bridge if you try passing that off as the end all be all stat for the greatest golfer. I love Jack, but it's Tiger by a decent margin. His prime may never be touched.

says the guy w the nwo moniker.

golf is real and majors are what most people do gauge it as, not la quinta invitationals.

If it was before April 19th then no, I didn't yet exist when the '86 Masters happened.

I was around for all of Tiger's heroics though. And there have been plenty.

The argument for or against Jordan will never win because basketball is a team sport.

Golf is an individual sport. It's 18-14, Jack over Tiger. If it's just tour wins, I think there are a couple above Jack or Tiger but it's majors that count.

This is sort of like tennis. Federer's greatness is measured by his grand slam count (which is 20 now I believe). I think there are a few other players (such as Connors maybe?) who have more tour wins than Federer but no one cares about that.

In individual sports, it's all about the majors.

In team sports, it's really hard to argue. Russell has more rings than Jordan, Wilt is statistically on average better than anyone across the board, Kareem is all-time leader in everything with same rings and MVP's as Jordan, but more seasons more raw stats and more finals appearances. Lebron .... there is even an argument for his against Jordan. The sure thing is - in team sports no one can win the arguments - everyone is set on their opinions.

But individual sports? I think it should be measured by major titles. No one cares about how many Walmart Opens or Pizza Hut championships the player won.

Compare Jack and Tiger to say,Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan. Many say Flair is the greatest wrestler of all-time,but Hogan made pro wrestling mainstream and soar in popularity. Both great indeed, but for different reasons. That's how I view Jack and Tiger.

Will Tiger match Jack's majors? Doubtful but I am a fan of his despite his problems and I still root for him.

Funny thing is all the Pro Jack crowd has is... Majors and Tiger is a bad guy. Tiger has every other stat there is. 3 more wins and Tiger will have another record - the ALL TIME win record on the PGA tour.

from above: "He may have great stats, and at one time fans loved him, but he's a shell of who he used to be professionally and as a celebrity."

Tell that to the 5.1 tv rating the Arnold Palmer tournament (regular pga event) received last week. FYI. 3.6 tv ratings for final round of every major except the masters last year.

I guess that makes tiger a shell of who he used to be professionally and as a celebrity.

List of Career Achievements

This debate is not even close. TW by a landslide.
