As a Yankee fan I'm hoping Severino. Watching the Yankee game right now I have to say Verlander.

Bumping this up for one final tally ... poll closes at 10am.

As I see it right now, it's a four horse race. Verlander well in the lead; Cole / Severino / Kluber interchangeable for 2-3-4.

Season still has four months left, a lot can happen but I don't see how any other name than one of these four gets the award this year.

I agree, it would be very difficult for someone outside those 4 to get it.

Since you don't crown CY's in May, Sale definitely is in the 2-5 mix.

I'd die if Trevor Bauer won a Cy Young.

Outstanding use of the internet. I'm dying. Not literally though.

Why would I? Red Sox have a throwback jersey night scheduled in August and the value of his cards would plummet the next day.

Pretty sure this was an Oscar Taveras slow-burn joke.

Ohh I know it.

Jewcer texted me a couple of weeks ago to tell me he would have invested in Franmil Reyes; but saw I was buying and decided against it because he was worried he would die. I laughed.

But people don't need to be worried... yet. Taveras died on my daughter's birthday, and Fernandez died on mine.

Wife - 10.05
Son - 11.11

These are the dates that should worry people.

I guess b/c the indians arent a sexy team, I guess people just forget about them since their division is garbage and they have been around .500 all year

no... it's not that at all

he doesn't throw 100 like severino or verlander..... and he didn't just have a 300k season like sale

but he eats innings like crazy, and he bends a lot without breaking...... he hasn't been great really this year... but you look up and he is 9-2 with a sub 2 era an a 0.85 whip......... if he gets hot like the second half of last year; all it will take is a few sub par verlander outings and this thing will be wide open for him yet a third time

honestly i don't think so............ pitching is an individual thing and war takes out the team element... whip and batting average against don't really matter for team accolades and when the season is over; voters are looking at stats for pitchers. record will come into play only in evaluating their individual wins. for instance degrom this year...... he may be hurt only having 4 wins thus far, otherwise he's been great.... but kluber leads the AL in wins so the indians aren't punishing him

team record is huge for guys like kershaw/verlander who won mvp's as well...... and scherzer may very well have a shot at the mvp if the nationals can win that division

i could be wrong..... but the indians have been pretty good the past few years... i don't think a mediocre start which is still leading the division is hurting his cy chances
