Chris Sale. He dominates, and has what, 6 straight 11+ K games now?

I see that the poll was taken along time ago, but even recent comments kind of brush Snell to the side... what else does he have to do? lol

Kluber is completely gone now, I see it as Sale on top now with Severino and Verlander right there

Didn't most everyone write off Kluber a couple years ago and he had an unbelievable second half and won the Cy Young?

there weren't 3 other top tier guys in the way..... to jump over verlander, severino, sale..... and snell too.... it's likely too much

Two certainties came out of the Indians/Yankees game tonight: Kluber is out of it, and Bauer has jumped Severino.

Can someone please tell me why they would rank Severino above Sale right now? I genuinely don't understand.

14 wins lead the major leagues by 2

era, whip, war; they are marginally close although sale does lead all 3 head to head

for your average guy who looks at era and wins.... severino is the guy

if you like advanced metrics, strikeouts, measures of dominance.... sale is the guy

Severino is a definite fourth at this point.

Getting very interesting almost like moving day at a golf major with a bunch of guys within 5 shots of the lead. Any bogeys(like tonight) are magnified and and a lot of world class depth lurking. A couple stinkers by guys at the top could bring guys like Bauer and Snell into the mix. What a terrific race!

Which is such a great testament to how close this race is overall. He was the clear frontrunner like, what, two weeks ago?

i love all the "definite" posts...like there is no shot that anyone is definitely in front or definitely in 4th or anything!!

Verlander: leads league in ERA/WHIP...a very good combo to lead in...is 2nd in innings, 4th in Strikeouts, 6th in WAR

Sale: leads league in WAR/Strikeouts...also a very good combo to lead...is 4th in innings, 2nd in WHIP, 2nd in ERA

Severino: leads league in Wins...is 5th in ERA(.08 from 2nd), 7th in WHIP(.04 from 4th), 5th in innings, 7th in strikeouts, 2nd in WAR

Bauer: leads league in nothing notable(fWAR he is tied but was using bWAR in this post)...4th in ERA, 9th in WHIP, 3rd in innings, 3rd in Strikeouts, 4th in WAR

Snell: leads league in nothing notable...3rd in ERA, 8th in WHIP, 10th in innings, 8th in Strikeouts, 5th in WAR

Kluber: leads league in Innings...8th in ERA, 3rd in WHIP, 9th in Strikeouts, 3rd in WAR

G.Cole: leads league in nothing notable....6th in ERA, 4th in WHIP, 6th in innings, 2nd in Strikeouts, 7th in WAR

that is 7 guys!! you are gonna tell me that certain guys are definitely ahead or definitely in 4th at this time??

Bauer is not leading in anything...3rd in inn/k's

Snell is not getting the love cuz to be honest...as good as his season has been...he really isnt all that close to actually being the winner or even top 3 when you stack up the stats...doesnt mean it cant change...obviously it will change almost every day when one of these guys makes a start...as all the stats will continue to change between them all

Kluber is "done" yet he is leading in Inn pitched and 3rd in WHIP/WAR...

as of now since only two guys are leading in 2 categories(i know i only really listed 5..and there are plenty more to account for...but this is more of a basics breakdown)...

Sale and JV are on top for me

Followed by Bauer, Severino, Kluber

3rd tier leaves Cole and Snell for me

but again...basically every day this will change and the above ranks will be continuously changing every start!! which is AWESOME...and which is why saying anything close to

"its 100% Sale's at this point"
"he is for sure down to 4th now"
"Bauer is leading for sure"

is almost immediately outdated within one week....Severino was 1 or 1a for the last 3wks...and now he goes and gives up 4er and has fallen to 4th...which yea is semi-accurate..and shows how volatile this race is going to be!!

now Sale is cruising and dominating and is viewed as 1 or 1a...if he goes and get shelled next time out which he has a tendency to do...he could drop to 5th all the sudden on some peoples list...

this is gonna be great!!
