Default USMNT :(

Well, I can’t say I remember being so disappointed in recent memory as when the USMNT failed to qualify for Russia. I harbored no expectations about results in 2018, but it would’ve been great experience for our young guys. I guess I expected us to qualify. So crushing. In the card world, I can’t imagine it’ll be good for pulisic prices, as his exposure at Dortmund is limited in the US.

Really not the way to grow the sport here. Oh well.

Agreed, I have a handful of of big Pulisic's that I was holding for the WC. Gotta hope he explodes in Germany

Certainly doesn't help Panini either.

Question from an outsider:

How will this affect the release of WC Prizm? It's gonna make it cheaper, right? Or is this the kind of product that is mostly set by the global market?

The amount of international pull as well as collectors here in the us that collect international players, US onto qualifying will have zero effect on this product

I always assumed that there was a strong fanbase in the US that would go after the product just to collect US cards - not really caring about club cards.

Like, I collect autos and memorabilia but it's mostly about the players (legends) and only 1 per. No affiliation to any particular club. If we make it to the World Cup? I'll be buying into as many group breaks as I can.

I always though most of the people in the US buying WC was in that group. Is it not like this? TBH, I've never met US soccer collectors so I have no idea.

Should have clarified, I'm not from the US.

As a strong USMNT supporter, this result will have no effect on any purchases I make for World Cup cards. I was a fan way back in the dark days of the 70s and 80s when there was absolutely zero chance that the US would ever make the World Cup. World Cup was on PBS way back when, if I remember correctly.
