DISCUSSION THREAD ONLY: SP Legendary Cuts as a CRAZY BOX BREAK?
Looking for your advice and your thoughts.
Just trying to come up with something new. A 5 box case of 2011 UD Legendary Cuts is $725.00 - but there are only 5 hits. That's it. If we did 200 spots, it would be $4.00 per spot. ($3.63 + pp fees = $4.05) The odds would be 1:40. Let's be VERY CLEAR, that would be a 97.5% chance of getting NOTHING. We could obviously do more than just 1 case... If we did 500 spots, it would be $1.75 per spot. ($1.45 + pp fees = $1.80) Also, we do not have to do a full 5 box case. We could do individual boxes at $148 each. 2011 Topps Tribute 8 boxes, 30 cards per box, 6 hits per box - $15.50 per team, per box. So, what do you think?

That being said, I love the gambling involved here and would probably be down for a few slots regardless of the product.

Yeah, I'd be interested in a couple slots either way. Kind of an intriguing gamble, if you ask me. Hitting anything with a few slots would be worth it!

I would probably be in for either.
I look at it like this....I spend money on random packs everytime I drive by my LCS and sometimes when I go out of my way to go past it. A good amount of time I end up with base, or not much value. You can't buy random packs of Cuts or Tribute, so this is like buying random packs of something high end and hoping for the best.

How about this idea:
Has anyone ever done such a thing as a random checklist break? Did I just invent this? By my quick count there are 1029 different cards in the 2011 UD Legendary Cuts checklist (assuming there are no late inclusions or exclusions). Why not random off each card. Each slot would be approximately 71 cents (plus paypal fees, of course). You could set a rule that would require people to get them in lots of 10, so theoretically it would be $7.10 (plus paypal fees) per 10 slots. When the break fills then all 1029 spots would be randomed off against the participants names. So each card in the checklist will be assigned to a particular participant. Then when we open the 5 boxes and pull out the 5 cards then whoever has that card gets it. Simple right. Does that make sense? Is it a good idea? Comments please. |
