Default Hello! New Member (leafs Fan)

Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to introduce myself as i'm new to the forum.

My quick bio;

I thought collecting back when i was a wee young lad in the early 90's would transfer into the collecting market of today.. but My God.. has the Card collection market changed.... a lot..

booklets?, jersey fabric insets?! sheesh... oh and also... $900.00 for a "cup Tin" my god!

what happened to the .45c pack of 5 upper deck when you walked to the corner store???? lol..

Anyways.. Been studying what's available, as I am trying to build my Maple Leafs memorabilia to something with a little more substance and character.

My Goal, like most people (i would imagine) is hunting the Matthews, Marner, Nylander Young Guns Cards..

I see they hold the most cash value, and look to be the most common to acquire in the 2016-2017 Series 1 UD.

Realistically I probably will drop $1,000.00 in hopes i succeed in the "hunt" for them, as I will find the excitement in searching to be just as fun as "winning"...

Most likely, after i burn through the 1st $1,000.00 and fail I will be reaching out to this forum to help me purchase..

With that being said, the more rare, the better (obviously)..

Not sure if anyone else is on this forum in the "GTA" area - Mississauga.. and has these items mentioned above.. but if you might be interested in building up your own memorabilia collection (if you are a leafs fan).. I recently came into some good luck..

I redeemed my Air Miles and purchased the Auston Matthews Autographed Blue Jersey that is framed etc.. and Luckily for me... Air Miles messed up and sent me two

Sooo.. Worst comes 2 worst.. If i Burn through the 1st $1,000.00 and fail, I might look at offering 1 of my jerseys up for trade bait and get the ball rolling.

Some pictures are below.

Cheers

Welcome! Nice to see another Leafs fan here on the forums. That Matthews jersey is incredible! Can't believe they sent you two!

Thanks Guys/Gals.

Quick question;

how do you view the blaster packs vs hobby packs?

Obviously the Hobbies are better from the rare aspect, but I was wondering what peoples personal experiences are with the whole debate.. is it worth it? or for someone new, blaster packs seem to make more sense out of the gate.

Reason for the question; I'm only allowing 1k in spending.. soo... i can buy 2 cases of blasters 2016-2017 series 1 at 12 packs per, x 20 boxes for about $1,000.00 including duties...

or.. 3 boxes of hobbies at 24 packs..

Hobbies are 1 in 4 chance for YG
Blasters are 1 in 6 chance for YG

Thoughts?

from UD Series 1 and 2, aside from the rare stuff that you mentioned, the collation of young guns are not as good in a blaster case.

but if you have 1k to spend, why not just spend them on singles ?

I always found it exciting when pulling a card vs buying them..

plus, it add's a nice memory reminder when you walk past them in a hallway or showcase shelf in the basement.
