Lol I think he wants to play 162 games, not this platoon crap

I hope Happ has a huge year and gets 600 at bats. The ball just jumps off his bat.

It really does.

It's weird how that happens for some guys in particular. I don't know nearly enough about physics to understand why that happens for him (assuming he isn't corking his bat or juicing his muscles or anything), but as a Cubs fan, I'm sure glad it does.

He does have something of a less typical “whipping” motion with his swing, especially from the left side, which may well have something to do with how the ball comes of his bat when he makes really square contact. Just naked eyeing it, he also seems to get unusually good barrel contact on a high percentage of his swings that result in the ball being put in play.

He is a potentially really valuable young player, especially given his switch hitting and his ability to play multiple positions, both IF and OF, at least adequately. I’m so glad they paid for free agent pitching rather than trading him for pitching.

I have a feeling Darvish is going to be great this year. I didn’t think so at first, but picking him up was an excellent front office move.

That was so fitting given the way he performed in ST.

Would be nice to explode for like 8 runs early.

So glad it’s back!!!

C’mon not your grandfather’s or great-grandfather’s or great-great-grandfather’s Cubbies!!!

The rest of the league will probably never catch up in HBP, given the extent of our early lead.

That will probably be especially true once Contreras crushes a few homers and salutes them in admiration while doing a bat flip.

I'm watching this game at work. I can't believe how many Cubs fans made the trip down. I think they outnumber the Marlins fans.

C'mon guys, pitching staff over rated... This is why the Cubs won't get to the WS again and this is why you should bet the over on every Cubs game. Total was 8 and we're already there

Well, let’s see this shiny new bullpen in action.

Not a good effort from Lester. Needs some sharpening up for sure. I’m sure he will get there just fine, like he always does. But not good today.

Still think the offense can get it done today.

As a Mariner fan, I have seen a lot of Cishek. I honestly do not think he knows where the pitch is going when he throws it. His motion, and his pitches make him pretty valuable. As does his unpredictability.

I can promise you guys some days you will be cursing his name though. He can be very wild
