The only horror movie I can remember actually getting scared from was the skit in Creepshow called The Crate. That part haunted much of my childhood.

Don't forget The Devil's Backbone and Ju-on. Some of Stephen King's It and Salem's Lot are still kinda scary.

Ah yes...Funny Games is the film I've been looking for.
Seen it once many years ago and forgot the name.

After I saw the Exorcism of Emily Rose in the theater when it came out I swore off and have never seen a horror movie again. I didn't sleep for days.

My favorite genre and seemingly the hardest to make a good one. I'll try to show some of my favorite parts with gif.

Everyone knows the classics, here's my favorites of those:

Nightmare on Elm Street is my second favorite horror franchise to Halloween. That song always freaked me out.

IT was one of the best horror movies for me as a kid. Tim Curry just made the character amazing.

Exorcist scared me when it was rereleased in theaters. That weird inverted crab walk got me good because it was unexpected from the original.

Halloween is a classic and was always chilling with the stalking scenes. Zombie's remakes was pretty good and had some scary parts.
This part got me good.

Sinister was freaky. Had a lot of elements that have been done but it felt fresh and new.

The Woman in Black was done well and had me freaked out a few times.

The Conjuring was awesome, that lady still freaks me out. Probably my favorite modern horror flick.

The original Texas Chainsaw and the remake with Jessica Biel was freaky. Like a Michael Myers but faster version has always freaked me out with Leatherface.
This part is bonechilling in both versions. It happens so quick and then they are just screwed.

The Others was a pretty good movie that doesn't get talked about a lot. I'd watch it if you haven't.

Gonna have some sort of messed up dream after looking up all that stuff.

Default Some recommendations.

I just saw four of the best horror movies I have ever seen recently. Funnily enough, two of them were Australian and about Zombies.

- Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead
- These Final Hours
- It Follows
- The Babadook

This. I saw Event Horizon in the theater the day it premiered. Blew my mind. And the soundtrack by Orbital is crazy good too.

1997 was such a great year for sci-fi/horror.

I'm a little surprised there's been no mention of the awesome Phantasm series by Don Coscarelli (especially parts 1 & 2).

I just watched it on Netflix it was good up until you saw the Babadook... had they made his face look like the drawings in the book it could have been better. Ended up being a steamy pile of rubbish

we enjoyed it for what it was, but that kid kept distracting the #@#@#@#@ out of us. we just wanted to beat his face in the entire movie.

I am a HUGE fan of horror and as my wife calls it Torcher Porn.

Sorry if it was noted but if you havent seen it you need to see cabin in the woods. Its a great movie and does not take it self seriously and i think that is why its one of my favorites.

My favorites are.
Halloween series
Friday the 13th
SAW franchise
Cabin in the woods
All the Dawn of the dead movies some were dumb but still fun to watch.
