Default Who will be a bust?

Many people feel that these 6 prospect are going to tear it up in the big leagues. So I'm curious as to which one of these 6 players you guys think won't live up to the hype and be considered a bust down that road.

Bryant and taveras are going to be studs!! I honestly was surprised that Bryant wasn't up last year. Even being drafted last year he is ready...my choice would be Sano or Baez! I know it's pick one but either one IMO. Cardinals just know how to scout........

For me its Buxton and not because he will totally bust. He's being built up to be some superstar but I think in the end he'll end up being an above average player with a decent all around skill set. Just not the elite player he's being touted to be.

Great points. Look at Jason Heyward. When he's healthy, he's an above average RF but not one of the top 10 players in the MLB like many thought he'd be. Or look at Strasburg, he gets injured and goes from the second-coming to a whipping boy. Even Harper is selling far below what he was this time last year because of an above average but not spectacular season. This is why I avoid prospecting for profit. I buy Bowman because I enjoy looking back at my cards to see what prospects made it and didn't make it. It's fun, but there are many better investments out there that have better return odds if you're looking at it as a financial investment.

All of these guys won't be superstars... One of them is bound to be a bust

Sano's K Rate concerns me. I'd have to say him over the others.

Buxton = Tori Hunter good prospect but not #1.

Bogaerts = Hanley Ramirez but i think Bogaerts will be better throughout his career.

Taveras = perennial All-Star but doubt he's an MVP type.

Bryant = Game changer. Future MVP and the reason the Cubs will contend in 2-3 years.

Sano = will hit 25+ homeruns a year but bat under 250. Like I've said before a dime a dozen. But definitely my choice to be a bust and never truly be an everyday starter like Laporta.

Baez = above average ML player will hit 30+ homeruns a year and hit in the 260-280 range once he sees more consistent pitching.

I listened to this last year and it made me feel very good about Taveras. I've only seen Taveras on YouTube but he has a pretty swing and elite bat speed, hits for average, uses all fields, pure hitter type.

Jason Parks discusses Taveras & Wil Myers:

Sano is the bust for me. Although I don't think he'll be a complete bust, just not live up to hype.

Kris Bryant is the one I feel best about from watching some of his college highlights. Haven't seen enough of the others to really know.

They already have rizzo and wood, and if Baez and Bryant pan out, we'd be 4 more decent pitchers away.

Bryant I can see being a Longo type but Baez I just see him being a .260-270/.320-.330 guy flirting with 20 HR's a year. Mashing minor leaguers is cool and all but I see him being just an above average guy offensively. Defensively he's a liability. Move to 2B or OF is in his near future. Cubs def need to look into pitching heavily in the draft and college ones at that. Sooner they are ML ready the better off

For those that chose Sano, is it his high K rate or something else?

Add to the fact he is on a list with absolute monsters and that is the only glaring item he has against him. I don't think he will be a bust, but I'd say that is one of the most telling indicators a prospect may not live up to the hype.

Bogaerts has already proven he can do it at the next level, Taveras might be one of the best pure hitters to come through in a very long time. And Buxton currently ranks ahead of those two on nearly every major prospect list.

Bryant has also shown the propensity to strike out, but in a much smaller sample size. I'll give him the pass at this point, given his monster AFL season.

I think several of them will disappoint prospectors, especially Buxton, who I project as a Hunter Pence-type at best after being hyped as the next Griffey, but the only one who looks like a true bust to me is Sano, who I see as a Billy Ashley in the making.
