Default Brady contenders RC auto /100

Hi guys, I am a basketball collector. But I would love to pick up one or two football legends such as Brady and Manning. And I have noticed that there are two Brady contenders RC auto /100 being auctioned on Ebay currently with one PSA 8 and one bgs 8/10. I noticed that there is a significant different in price between these two so I wonder do I missing anything here or just football collectors are more willing to pay extra premium for PSA graded cards? Please advise.

Well the 10 auto is huge so I'm guessing that's where the difference comes in.

The PSA is the one that's higher.

PSA 8.5 base version also went for 2000, whereas the BGS 8.5/10 went for 1400, so it seems as though a premium is being paid for the PSA versions

PSA is better at making sure cards are not trimmed IMO and no longer allowing sheet cuts, which is causing a huge spike for registry collectors VS BGS

Ok I see. Thanks for the answer. For basketball we often value BGS higher for auto cards but I guess that's not the case in football.

PSA with a super clean auto will fetch more than same grade BGS with a 10 auto. There are usually far less clean auto psa "modern" cards, which actually makes them pretty rare.

What you really have to be careful with that card besides the ones that are trimmed by the ones that arent actually number on the back. Especially in the past year or so a lot of those kinds of in coming out on numbered for sale.

I understand how trimming drastically affects appearance and value of a vintage card. Haven't cards been cut by lasers the past twenty years? A modern trim can be measured but how does a grading service prevent sheet cuts?

P.S. A Brady Contenders RC is my most sought after card so I'd like to know what I'm getting into as well!

The reason the lesser grade PSA 8 sold for $2400 more than the BGS 8.5/10 ($6300 vs $3850) is becuAse of the low POP - it was a battle for the PSA registry. There is simply less. It doesn't have to do with the look of the auto or the card.

If you sent a BGS 8.5/10 to PSA for crossover they wouldn't even give
It a 7. They need to protect their registry. It's politics. You would have to crack it and submit RAW.

I honestly dont think it politics. I think PSA is more strict in most cases. I have cracked several BGS 9's and sent them to PSA raw, and the cards either come back a 7 or trimmed. One of the cards was a BGS 9 1992 stadium club favre, I thought it would be a PSA 9 for sure, I sent it in raw and it came back not graded due to minimum size requirements (trimmed).
