Question State Sales tax question on eBay

If the seller doesnít specify you have to pay state sales tax in the item description, should you have to pay it? I honestly would have reconsidered buying the item (over $150) if I knew I had to pay state sales tax.

What's the link? Listings automatically state if tax is charged or not. Who's at fault? The seller for not drawing it out or the buyer for not looking?

Iím at fault for using the mobile app. Nowhere does it say sales tax but on the desktop website it has it listed

Oh well, I will be sure to check before I buy going forward for purchases in Ohio.

I've noticed another issue with the Ebay app when trying to relist items.

If a listing ends that was set up with only a BIN and no best offer option, relisting will not only default to having best offer enabled, but also lock you into that change. You're forced to relist on the standard site (which has also become worse over time - longer loading times while editing listings, etc.)

Sales tax is Michigan is 6%. That would be an extra $9 if you lived in my state. Is $9 really that big an issue on a $150 purchase that you would not have purchased the card? Wow!

8.25% here in Texas and yes I've clicked the back button over $2 in tax many times myself, for $12.37 I definitely would have too. If I'm going to pay sales tax I'd rather give my money to a local brick & mortar store and keep the cash flow in my area.

If you get the item shipped to a different state, no sales tax charge. Probably not worth the trouble in this instance.

10% here and I charge sales tax. Also pay it in every quarter on all WA sales. Some people run businesses on eBay and have to collect and pay it.
