Have you filed a mail fraud case? That is basically the way to stop this.

Im not sure it does anything specific but us few people blocking them doesn't really mean anything in the grand scheme. They are committing a federal crime which you have proof of.

eBay did have me electronically sign, under penalty of perjury, the IC3.gov complaint form, so it has been sent to the white-collar crime division of the FBI.

Mail Fraud:

https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/c...complaint.aspx

Pretty sure this is the link eBay gave OP:

https://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx

Both names blocked. Thanks.

I have twice and both times it got me results though it has been awhile. Once it becomes an out-of-state issue the USPS usually gets pissed. I'd make sure that ebay knows that you are filling which may help convince them that they don't want any part of these two buyers/sellers. I'm sure they don't want to be part of a mailing scheme.

Add their address(es) to the op and I will sticky it.

Scammers get really mad when the first thing that pops up when you google them is a scamming thread.

They email me demands to remove their names or (they will have my job/sue me for slander/come to my house/create rude threads on other forums) so I think it has an effect. Rob Berg usually cries.

The thing is they didnt use the label. I think there is no rule that they must use the label.

Correct. The prepaid label I sent to the scammer through eBay came with signature confirmation (I believe it was a $4.95 charge). The scammer instead sent it on his own via first-class mail with tracking, but no signature was required when it was delivered to the auto garage in my zip code.

The address used in the scam has been updated in the original post. Thank you, Houdini.

Check out her friend list and check out Joseph Poboy's occupation. Ready for this......."Mailhandler at US Postal service". I would imagine there was some information shared there to help with the scam.

I'm shocked that ebay let's you get away with that in the US.
I was a victim of a very similar tactic from a Taiwanese dude, and it was only after getting angry and basically begging PayPal to actually look at all my evidence, via direct messages through facebook, to actually get anywhere with them...
International would be far harder to police. I'd have thought that in the US the tracking would be more detailed and systems more reliable.

The woman's name in the thread title is not spelled correctly.
There is only one "m" in Bookhamer (according to her FB profile).

Might want to correct it for Google searches.

I noticed this as well. Bookhammer (with two m's) is the spelling they used when scamming.

Very tricky disguise. It would probably take the FBI years to make that connection.

This seems like a terrible idea for a scam, since their intentions are so transparent. With their real names out there and their social media presence making everyone aware of where they work, it seems like the kind of thing that could easily makes its way to their employer...not that this happened in the workplace, but I can't see reputable employers being happy about their employees conducting themselves like this.

Greed makes people do stupid things.

Its actually a very old scam, but in the past year or two has been pretty much eliminated due to the new scanners of the USPS. The only issue still at hand is that the USPS does not provide the info online so there is no way for Ebay to verify this themselves. These scammers rely on people not following up with the PO or that there are still many of the old scanners being used.

Hey Dan, thanks for reaching out and sharing your story. If I can help out further in any way let me know.

Ryan Poboy is a name to remember; he will certainly try scamming another member in the future. At least the few that read your feedback will be aware and can protect themselves.

Of course they do.

Because the moment a scammer is wronged they cry like babies. But they have no problem wronging other people. They usually cry the loudest and threaten the most.
