I know the Quantum is college uni, along with Fleer Signature, but they are sweet cards and tough to find in top grade

I didn't really like it when I bought it (don't ask - it was a drunk purchase as I bought a bunch of other stuff from the same seller that was all ending at once - Haha) but I've become a fan of the Fleer Metal

NFL Uniform, pretty decent looking card, and condition sensitive if you decide to buy slabbed

My guess is the difference in Population

SPx - POP 81

UD GRADED - POP 184

The reason is that "UD Graded" is not a popular brand. I don't think it lasted very long and doesn't carry the prestige of SPx or SP Authentic or Chrome, etc.

This is perhaps true, but what about a brand like Leaf Limited?
I always thought LL to be popular, maybe its not.

I haven't checked prices lately, but I would imagine the Leaf Limited /350 is far outselling the UD Graded? I don't know what they have been going for, but I have long believed the LL card to be undervalued. only 350 copies and a very "pretty" card in person. Yes, I said pretty. I would take that card over UD graded any day.

I agree with you in that this card is undervalued, but I dont know if it outsells the UD graded because there are much less around. I have the LL in my saved searches, and there is really never more than 2-3 up at a time, sometimes none at all.
One would think that due to the rarity of 350 copies, this card should be selling for 2 grand or more, but it doesnt.

Ive never been able to put my finger on why this seems to be the case.

I have his 2000 Vanguard rookie numbered out of 762. I don't even remember when, why, or where I got it. I wish I would have got one in a Patriots uniform. It's still a nice looking card, though.

The UD Graded sells for more then the Leaf Limited. Honestly it could be because it was an Upper Deck Product. But in a PSA 10 or BGS 9.5 the leaf limited outsells the UD Graded. The Leaf Limited is very condition sensitive.

there are fake Brady contenders.
References to this exist back to 2012 from various card forums.

http://www.blowoutcards.com/forums/f...ay-w-bids.html

There was even an ebay listing several years ago that detailed a BGS submitted card as coming back counterfeit.

This is exactly the reason why I only trust serial #'d rookies.

This is old news. Just in the last 6 months, there have been 2 or 3 threads on trimmed Contenders. One of the threads may have been stared by me because I had a trimmed Contenders.

I ended up having BGS slab it as authentic/altered, and sold it... it was a push, so I didnt lose anything. I just had to hold onto it for a year, as prices went through the roof.. Needless to say, I was still pretty upset but I didnt find out it was trimmed until almost 8 months after I bought it.

Altered Brady Contenders are now going for an upwards of 2 grand now. Some people just dont care if its been trimmed, they want one of the most iconic cards ever printed, with an on-card AU of the GOAT.

He wasn't posting about trimmed... he was posting about fakes. There is a difference.

It relates back to this - Look at the R in Contenders

Good god.. I see now.

I also find it hard to believe that Beckett said that was auth/alt.
Now that I see the "R" it sticks out like a sore thumb. Beckett would have caught that, so I even question the guys statement. If its a complete fake, its not authentic.

Just checked both of mine... whew.
The "R" is right where it should be.

Someone needs to consolidate all of this info together, and do a story on it for the sportscard community.
This card is turning into the 84 fleer michael jordan

I'm not referring to trimmed. Fakes, counterfeits...cards that are reproduced or not factory released

I always wondered why there was such an abundance of Contenders Brady

Any other player there are anywhere from 1-8 copies on ebay. Brady there are always 20+. Shouldn't this card be locked down in collector vaults and not seen so readily?

Probably the reason why you see so few PSA graded. Also likely the reason why PSA won't look at them any longer.

here is a fake Brady with a fake Jordan. Can you tell the difference? I can't.
There might be subtle differences with the embossed stamp - but I can't see it clearly enough to assess

Interesting how can you tell the one above is fake? I don't see a raised R on that one.

How do you know these are fake?

Also, can you confirm that PSA wont look at them anymore?

there are better counterfeits out there.
The raised "R" are easy...even Beckett can catch those.
The counterfeit with correct type set are routinely being slabbed at BGS.

I honestly don't know the difference. I'll stick with serial #'d rookies

That's great but that eliminates every vintage card in existence.

Your opinion?
If a fact, please state your source.

While you might be right, this is severely damaging information so differentiating fact and opinion is important.

here is the real one. Below is the fake.
Not much difference between the two except the autograph is different in each.
The fake has what looks like a "10" auto. The real one has streaky "9" auto. This is likely why it was PSA graded rather than BGS

Big money cards always bring big opportunity for fraud.

Thats all fine and dandy, but I cant determine any difference between the two, judging only from your images.

Not saying your full of it, I just cant tell.

The auto doesnt help with it being an absolute horror show, but Ive seen absolutely perfect autos before at the beginning of a numbered series, and then by the end, the autos are streaky because the player just used the same pen to sign 500 cards, or their hand gets tired, so they begin using alternating pressure (as examples)

I dont think a perfect, or imperfect auto is a sign of a counterfeit.
Theres real people signing these things, and as the day goes, things change.

If I signed my autograph 300, 500, 1000 times in a day, rest assured, youll probably want one of the first 100, because after that, its gonna look like garbage.

Im not contradicting you at all, and I appreciate you lending your knowledge and insight. Im just not sure what to think at the moment.

Edit: One more thing.. gimme that PSA 10, nao!!!

Hmm..interesting. Is there any more info about those cards? They both look legit to me besides the wonky looking auto on the top one. I wonder if one of the PSA labels could be fake but one of the cards may be trimmed or something.
