1952 Topps Mickey Mantle crossover question
https://imgur.com/a/pPiMV
So I just got this 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle in a trade. I'm questioning if it's worth crossing over to PSA if I was looking to sell it. Curious if anybody knows what exactly it would cost. I thought about taking it to a PSA show but will I get it back that day or will they still have to mail it to me? I think it would be pretty expensive not sure it would be worth it or not |

its an altered card why would you pay to have psa tell you that?
this is a niche card that will take the right buyer. sgc is as good as psa when it comes to determining authenticity of vintage baseball cards. the buyer of this card would know that.

Better eye appeal in that holder IMO

I was always led to believe PSA sells for more. I was asking if it's worth the cost to cross it over if I wanted to resell it

Thanks for the advice I appreciate it. Thing I hate about altered cards is I really have no idea how much I can get for it if I were to sell it

Yeah, leave in SGC slab. Will be no premium in a PSA slab since it's so obviously altered. If you just have to do it, you could get it crossed over to PSA at The National, and they slab the card the same day you bring it in. But it will cost you an arm and a leg.

When people say this, they're talking mainly about vintage cards in around NM or better shape. Yours is considered Altered/heavily trimmed, which has been authenticated by SGC.
Take the 1954 Topps Hank Aaron RC. Here are the price guide prices for different grades: Excellent 5: $2,000 EX-MT 6: $3,000 NM 7: $6,000 NM+ 7.5: $9,500 NM-MT 8: $22,000 NM-MT+ 8.5: $58,500 MINT 9: $165,000 That exponential ramp in prices at the higher grades is due to PSA's acceptance in the marketplace, and their set registry competition. SGC has much less interest from vintage Topps set builders and their card prices in those same grades would lag PSA's in all but some rare cases. Last year, a PSA 9 Jackie Robinson card sold for like 1/3rd of an SGC card in the same grade in the same auction, mainly because the PSA card had a large obtrusive fisheye print defect in the image and the SGC did not.

the registration is really nice on your card dont see any obvious wrinkles either. my guess is 5k is about right. dont see a scenario this gets to 8k but you never know...

I may post it for sale I don't know if im looking to get rid of it but if I get a decent offer I will sell. There was a PSA altered one yesterday on eBay that sold for $6988. Mine has good eye appeal but I don't know how someone will feel about the boraders being cut off completely.

This leads me to ponder if it will ever be OK for sports cards to be restored to increase their value such as old, vintage cars, paintings, books, antiques, the Declaration of Independence, the Shroud of Turin, etc. are. It seems to be acceptable for these objects, why not sports cards? |

You will always have a buyer. Its a 52 Mick for Gods sake. Someone who doesn’t have deep pockets only chance is a card like this. I believe there will always be these people for THIS card.
