Up for today is 1995 Pinnacle Trophy Collection, which is the easier to find parallel from the 1995 Pinnacle set. The other being Artist's Proofs, which we'll profile later. This set has the dufex technology in the background of the card front. Card backs also say "Trophy Collection" on the back. These were inserted at an undisclosed rate in hobby packs. Below is the complete rookie set. Enjoy!

I miss Bowmans Best, those gold and the atomic refractors are just awesome. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the kind words, guys! Dufex always was a favorite of mine, too. Haha! Those Atomic Refractor sets were tough to put together, but the hunt was quite fun.

I liked the dufex stuff more than refractors personally, great stuff.

Just made a few updates to sets that I've added to:

1995 Collector's Choice Platinum Players Club
1995 Score Artist's Proofs
1997 Bowman's Best Atomic Refractors
1998 UD Choice Reserve

I have about 20 or so sets that I haven't yet posted to this thread. I'll have to start getting more scans up soon!

I love the 97/98 Score Artists Proofs and the Summits. Do you have any 1996 Playoff Illusion Parallels? I remember opening tons of those boxes back in the day.

Great thread, man.

This is both a reference tool and stroll down the 90's NFL memory lane.

Thanks! In the not too distant future, I plan to post scans of the entire 1997 Score Artist's Proofs set. All 330 of them, veterans and rookies. I'm 90% complete on that beast of a set!

I never did go for the Playoff Spectrallusion or Dominion parallels. Maybe sometime down the road.

Thanks, my friend. I'm really hoping to not only showcase the rookie parallels, but also provide some information to collectors of 90's inserts. I'm so thrilled that these 90's cards are in vogue again!

Finally completed the 1997 Topps Minted in Canton set with a Sportlots purchase of the James Farrior. That card eluded me for several years, believe it or not. Also updated 1995 Collector's Choice Platinum Players Club with the purchase of the #5 Kerry Collins. Scanning new sets tonight! Stay tuned.

Up for today is a rather tough set from 1994 that has been quite a beast of a set to complete. 1994 UD Collector's Choice Gold. These were inserted at a rate of 1:35 packs. For the rookies, they differ from the regular issue in that the team name is printed in gold above the player's name. There is a much easier Silver version that can be had at about 10% of the price that the gold versions sell for. The Marshall Faulk in this set is among the toughest of all of his rookie parallels. Here is the entire rookie set!

Awesome sets 88! I recently opened a box of 97 Finest, brought me back in time. (Makes me sound/feel old) Got all the rookies and multiple Rice, Sanders, and Smith; fun break. I'm almost certain that when I read SI For Kids that some of these cards were featured with silly captions due to the faces and poses of 90s sports cards. Got a good laugh out of em too, thanks for sharing!

Thank you! It's really incredible to think that 1997 was almost 20 years ago. It seems not all that long ago I was busting pack after pack of 1997 products. That 1997 Finest set is a fan favorite for sure with all the cool inserts and subsets. I'm still trying to hunt down some of the Embossed Refractors from that set.

1994 Collectors Choice! That was fun and not expensive for a 15 year old. I pulled the Silver Faulk and thought I was so lucky.

Those were the days, man. A pull like that would have made my day in 1994. It's so cool that Collector's Choice was an affordable set back then. As packs were getting pricier, CC was still .50 a pack.

Fifty cents? Dang my card shop was selling them for a buck a pack OR 35 for a box. That's right one dollar off OR one free pack.

You know, I think you're right. They were about a buck a pack!

This thread is so fun to look at. Just seeing all the names and recognizable designs from my childhood. Around the late 90s when these sort of started to get phased out in favor of higher end stuff our LCS in the mall would bundle a lot of the lesser players in team bags with a few stars sprinkled in. I think it'd be like 5 bucks for 4 with maybe 10-12 cards with 2 inserts each or so? My Dad and I loved opening them. My parents had a restaurant, so we'd literally go to the mall every day after work and buy the grab bag packs. I'd combine my allowance with his pocket change and spend hours going through these and sorting in binders trying to make sets. We ended up going so often that the owners wife asked me who my favorite player was so they could make me a custom grab bag featuring only him and I said Michael Irvin. She was like uhhhh (knowing he was too expensive) how about a Panthers one instead?... Lol

I'm glad this thread brings up some great memories for some members here. It's been one of the biggest reasons I've decided to keep this thread going. It seems a lot of us like the nostalgia! One of the greatest joys of collecting these older 90's parallel cards is that it brings me back to a certain time in my life. I'm rather excited to see that there is a bit of a 90's insert revival going on. Seems like when something ages about 20 years, it gets some love from the generation that grew up with it.

Just for fun, let's keep with Collector's Choice and talk about a set that I'm nearly finished with, sans a few cards that I haven't yet acquired. 1995 Collector's Choice Update Gold. The rookies were randomly inserted into packs at a rate of 1:35 packs. The cards are differentiated on the front with the card name in gold foil. This set was quite coveted during the 90's Broncos heyday when Terrell Davis was the talk of the league. His Gold parallel card for this particular set used to fetch rather huge numbers that were only rivaled by his Mirror Gold rookie from 1995 Select Certified. Some other highlights are star rookies from Steve McNair, Ty Law, Tony Boselli, Joey Galloway, Kerry Collins, Curtis Martin, Derrick Brooks and Warren Sapp among others. I rather liked how this set was organized since everything is numbered according to team, alphabetically. I'm only missing #U6 Tony Cline, #U15 Earnest Hunter, #U49 Stoney Case & #U60 Michael Westbrook.
