His cards haven't had much movement since his first start with the 49ers. These will start popping off after they beat the Texans this weekend. People aren't sold on him yet because they haven't really seen him play. They're about to learn though! My advise would be to pick up a contenders rookie ticket while they're still relatively cheap.

Him being in a patriots jersey, does that hurt his card values?

Also, his cards aren’t cheap.

Can we include Future Watch to this list? Those seemed pretty popular when everyone was chasing Carr.

I don't think so. For a lot of players it might but he has a really strong following from Pats fans. For him in particular i think its actually better. He now has 2 markets. Speaking for Pats fans we all knew he was gonna be good i hated seeing him go but im happy for him at the same time.

If you cant afford any of the top 3 you named there what would be maybe the next 3 to look for?

If you just want to own a few on the cheap go for topps chrome refractors. Don't even know what they go for but i'd imagine under $20 raw. Probably the best bang for your buck imo. But i'd personally just bite the bullet and try to buy a contenders if it were me. That will be his top 1 or 2 card ever.

I kind of like the look of the topps Chrome, or Prizm autos. I think I will pass on just buying the refractor base cards and spend the money on an auto.

depending on your budget the best ones you can always get are the NT booklet is fine but theres cheaper variations (sticker autos) either that or if you want on card immaculate which you should be able to get a /99 less than $100 or a /25 less then $200. I have a on card supreme /10 id sell you for $50 shipped

The actual answer to your thread title is 1,770 different cards his rookie year. With that many different cards do like these guys and grab only his most prestigious. The rest will be an after thought down the line.

If Jimmy signs a huge contract then don't waste too much money on his cards because only 4 of the last 22 winning Super Bowl quarterbacks were paid over 10% of the teams salary cap. Jimmy will most likely handcuff the team with his contract into having starters or bench players who shouldn't be on the field. This isn't the Patriots where Brady has a 10% cut and the rest of the team realizes to win, they all sacrifice for the good of competing for Super Bowls.
How many Elite QB's still have top dollar cards without a SB title - Marino. Spend wisely.

Kind of a catch-22 because without a Super Bowl title most QBs aren't considered elite.

Warren Moon is an example. Statistically, he was elite, with better numbers than Montana and Elway... especially considering that he didn't play in the NFL until age 28. But since he never had the playoff success those guys had, he never got the 'elite' designation. Marino is the one outlier in this.

I would advise you to watch a game and evaluate based on your own two eyes instead of what everyone else says. Then you can get a better understanding. If you cant evaluate talent then i dunno, maybe you are better going along with what everyone else says.
