For the regular season maybe, but come playoffs I think the Lakers will be in a world of hurt and possibly a first round exit. That’s where the west eats teams up, it’s not just the regular season

The narrative has never been that he only puts up the stats that he does because he's in the East. It's always been he makes it as far as he does because he's in the East. And it's funny that the MVP would play on a 9-7 team and the 8 spot in the West, if it were to end today. I think they will be the #2 or #3 seed at the end though.

If the MVP race ended today, I'd go Giannis. Was Steph before his injury.
agree, if the MVP race ended today. #1. Giannis #2. Steph #3. Kawhi

You can't be serious?

MVP's don't normally come from the 8th seed and have a 6 and 5 record vs the Conference.

Steph was murdering the League until he went down and AD has his team in a better position and can beat the Spurs handily. Unlike LeBron.

Jokic deserves consideration too.

That 51 point game helped, that loss the night before where Bron chucked it in during the 3rd qtr didn't.

In the December version of "the East is real real bad"

11 wins puts you comfortably in the 7/8 seed in the East, with a 2 game lead in your playoff spot.

11 wins puts you . . . 14th in the West.

We get it, you think the east sucks but does anyone really care? Or are you just going to keep bumping your threads?

11 wins in the West puts you about 4 games out of 1st. 11 wins in the East puts you 8 games out of 1st.

Great reply. It's all about perspective and people can use different stats to back their own claim.

As of now, there are 10 Western Conference teams with a positive SRS and only 7 from the East. But 2 of the top 3 are from the East as well as 3 of the top 6 and 5 of the top 10.

They are pretty close at the the top but the middle tier West teams are better than their East counterparts.

So the 7th place team in the West has 11 wins.

Actually it's the 8th team in the West. The 8th team in the East, however, has...11 wins.

For me, it’s always fun to look at the conferences from a high level. It’s important because you just want to see the best 16 teams playing in the league in the playoffs.

But the real question is, what is the non-confrence record? Last I looked, the West was winning over 60% of those games. That imbalance is pretty staggering. Hopefully it’s closer now. Anybody know the answer at this point?

It's 52-75. Still pretty bad.

But if you take the top teams in the East (Raptors, Bucks, 76ers, Celtics) it's 24-11. The problem has been that the East has 3 terrible teams that have gone 3-22 against the West while the West only has 1 and it's gone 1-8 against the East. You take all those 4 out and it's much closer at 41-52.

Lol at the East fans getting all butthurt.

It's a crazy advantage to get to play scrub teams like Atl and the rest in the East 4 times.

The West has also had Steph injured who was the MVP for mine and they were dominating and have since come back to the pack.

In the West you can only count PHO as a win, the rest of the teams are a tough out. Brutal.

This pretty much goes with the thought that the East has some really bad teams at the bottom but the top has been more competitive this year than in years past.

Celtics have won more championships then anyone and they're from the East. I guess you could say the East dominated in the 60's

We all know the West has fine looking women and good weather. I consider that an unfair advantage.

You're telling me, moving to the Carolinas was harsh.

As silly as it sounds i think there's some truth to it. I mean if you were a multi millionaire where would you want to live? Somewhere cold half the year or somewhere where the weather is always nice?

As of the morning of 12/13 the 8th place team in the East (Orlando @ 12-15) has a worse record than the 14th place team in the West (Houston @ 12-14). That's a playoff team.

Consider that for a moment.

Very true.....

But also consider that the best team in the east (Toronto ) just gobsmacked the best team in the west (Golden state) despite missing their best player. In Oakland.

Yup it's a disgrace.

After seed 5 (Boston) the East is atrocious and none of those teams would sniff a Playoff spot out West.

Have a look at 4 of the bottom 5 out West. They're all better than Detroit who is a 6th seed.

It's great that TOR is playing their best basketball in December, but I doubt we're calling them the best NBA team come June/July. Although I love the mix they have right now.

Yeah the East is amazing because of that one game.

GS had an off night. TOR played terrific and are clearly well coached.

I know you get upset when people talk poorly about the East, but overall, it stinks.

Hey at least they should get 11 of the top 12 picks next NBA draft.

I agree with you guys that the west is better.

I just think degree to which it’s better may be overstated by some.
