Default Topps Star Wars Card Trader Physical Trading Cards - Nov 2016

Most likely retail only, only digital hits mentioned, but they do say there will be some cards that unlock digital versions like the Classic Art cards from recent releases.

Also, those autos look like ones already in the app, so maybe they'll just be image variations?

These likely will include lackluster customer service and missing cards in packs, just like the app!

Doesn't Topps already have enough going on in November with Star Wars? Easy pass although I'm sure that I'm not the target audience for this.

Yeah, TOPPS needs to stop with these near-monthly releases. 4 per year would be more than enough.

Plus isn't there a 3D widevision set coming out this year too?

My thought is this will be like the Rebels set, but worse since no sketches listed and all autos seem to be digital (aka worthless).

Only supposed to be 6 packs per box. Base cards come with six levels of parallels: Blue (one per pack), Red (1:4 packs), Green (/99), Orange (/50), Battle Damaged (/10) and Slave I (/5). Parallels are among the cards with a dual purpose. They can be used to unlock app exclusives as well.

How screwy is it that someone worked to get a digital signature card and now someone else will actually get that physical card?
How about someone having a limited digital Rey card and then someone else waves the physical card in their face.

Ouch,
Vinny

It'll be pointless to have a physical card to unlock a digital sig. That's be like Topps Heritage with the printed autos on cards. They're worth nothing more than a base card.

Also, I don't see 6 packs per box, these are 6 cards per pack though. This has to be retail only, we're not talking about high tek here.

Pretty sure this is geared towards kids and casual Star Wars fans.

The Topps brand manager made a facebook post to some comments. He said that these are $2 per pack. This is retail only. There are no hobby packs/boxes. It is not a "hit driven" product and is just supposed to be fun.

Did he address how crappily run both Star Wars and TWD are right now in digital that we shudder to think what errors will be made with the physical versions.

Can see it now "So all the /99 cards aren't numbered.....there is just a holofoil "/" what do we do???"

I seriously don't get how Topps digital apps are still going as strong. The "whales" spending $100s at a time have to be getting bored with them by now, right?

In Star Wars, 99% of the variant bundles drop in price within 24hrs which leads people to be hesitant to buy.

In Bunt I have noticed a lot of the better/variant cards for Sigs/Relics are restricted to VIPs and I even saw for the Sigs you have to buy a $10 or more bundle to get access to try to open packs!

Huddle is all kinds of confusing right now with all the different Fire bundles they have and some of these packs are like 100,000 coins and 1:10 odds!

Lastly, TWD doesn't even have 20,000 users since most of the daily free cards I have seen are under this number. Like Star Wars there's crazy greed for the latest insert of a set and the set value dies ads soon as awards are handed out, with very few exceptions.

The errors among Star Wars and TWD are almost comical. Missing inserts in packs, bundles for sale when the cards are sold out, missed award deadlines, and the list goes on and on.

Any updates on this? Firm release date? I for one am glad to see a fun, non-stress product like this and will be getting a set along with some packs of my own

Checklist is up on the Topps site so 12/2 is a go. I know this won't be popular and goes against what I said 6 months ago but I'm looking forward to a Star Wars set that is not about hits but just a nice set of cards. Inserts look great!

I loved those and wish they'd bring something similar back

So ... 100 base cards and 120 inserts??? Seems a bit unbalanced, no?

Looks like 100 inserts if you do not count the digital autographs as I believe the odds are a little tougher on those and can be treated like a hit if there was one. The inserts all look great so I'm glad it's a large set. Should be very tough set to complete like the last retail (rebels) set.

Surprised there isn't any discussion on this set, now that it is released.

I picked up 3 boxes on the weekend, and have opened 1 so far.

There aren't any real hits, save for the digital autos I guess, but the number of inserts in this set, and the price point for a box, makes this a fun set to break.

One feature I am split on is the digital redemption of base variants. Each base variant card has a scratch off panel on the back, which gives a unique code which must be entered on the Topps website. Doing so unlocks a ticket in the SWCT app, which can then be traded in the Smuggler's Den for any card in that variant. Currently I am the sole owner of the Blue variant Bala-Tik card, for example. This digital redemption also extends to the "Topps Choice" insert set, but the codes are only for the specific card(s) you redeem.

So...you have to scratch off your physical card to get the digital variant? I'm not liking that - essentially have to ruin your physical card to hit a digital one then if I read that right?
