Well it's a similar chrome design, but maybe they're printed differently, idk.

I live in Orlando, FL - a humid environment and recently purchased 2 chrome cards, sent from out of state, that haven't experienced any greening yet

1. Card A will be placed in a container with silica packets that will receive no light
2. Card B will be kept in the open air but will not receive direct sunlight

Both cards will not be kept in penny sleeves

Would love your thoughts, opinions and suggestions!
I now store my collection in a closet with those damp-rid hangers. Not sure it'll make a difference but why not?

A little over 2 weeks into the experiment and there has been zero greening to either cards, both still full color and it's been VERY HUMID in Orlando

Oh...I've already done this and a few other experiments with U.V light on cards in slabs, like direct sunlight on PSA and BGS slabs, one touch...etc etc

I did it all years ago...if a card has already turned green, it will continue to over time..you MIGHT be able to slow it down, but there's no real way to stop it getting worse as far as I could tell..

If it's not green, just slab it in a PSA or BGS slab or a one touch and keep it out of sunlight and direct U.V light and that's it..

The more you try and protect your cards in vaults and cases with layers and layers of protection the worse it gets...just leave them in a slab or in a one touch, don't put them in anything else!

I don't believe there is any way to stop cards going green if it's temp related...or there's humidity issues...after all it's hard to know why it starts, but I feel it has to do with temp/humidity and the air or lack of air..

I have had cards in display cases for over a decade and none have changed..one display case has L.E.D lights on it almost every day and there's autos in there too...NOTHING HAS CHANGED!!!...it's all about doing less to protect them...I know that sounds stupid.

Anyway, that's what I did and never looked back, would be interesting to see if someone could turn one green just by sealing a card up too much and have a control card sitting in the same room unprotected...

Don't worry man, that's a rare Hulk parallel in my eyes, definitely an ebay 1/1.

So are you lending credence to penny sleeves possibly contributing to the issue?

I've been looking for a good discussion on this for ages.

I have a number of baseball and basketball 94, 95, 96 and 97 Finest and/or Chrome in single and multi-card screwdowns, penny sleeves, semi-rigids and 9-card polypages. Many were in-person autographs obtained the same as print years. And a few boxes had cards only no protectors and were either stored stacked or fully packed on their side like card drawer boxes would expect to be.

They have been in boxes in a bedroom, no direct sunlight light for ages. I have a mix and match of cards in each that are still good and bad in EACH of the types of holders described.

I'll try to snap a few pics, but all variations of protectors seem to have had the plastic react to the cards and did not protect the cards other than to keep corners sharp.

Over a month in and both cards are showing no signs of greening...

As I've researched this issue we all face - I challenge you guys to find a non-greening 1997-98 Chrome Destiny or Destiny Refractor of Kobe Bryant. These ones start to green near the knee on every card. I have been unable to and those cards seem to be the most prone to greening of all the Chrome/Finest cards I have been researching that experience this problem
