Unfortunate that we couldn't see what he could do as the number 1 guy o his team in the playoffs.

Being the man and being injured are not the same thing. He would have played the same minutes had he been w/LeBron, so dumb statement.

Is it a dumb statement? I think it all goes together and will still result in him not getting their on his own this year which is what he will be judged on

Dynamic could be totally different next year trying to work Gordon in

This guy gets it.

He left a 3 time defending eastern conference championship team just about 14 months after being a hero in game 7 of the finals.

The bar for Kyrie is getting to/winning a championship.

Being able to stay healthy is part of the game. This isn't anything new for kyrie to have knee issues.

I hate this for kyrie, the celtics, and fans. Been a tough year for injuries. How does this change the debate on if the Cavs or celtics won out on the trade?

Wasn’t it already known he would potentially need another knee surgery? Timing is a but this has been hinted at since he was on the Cavs. Wasn’t a matter of if but when, right ?

That's what he used as leverage against the Cavs when he was asking for a trade. Threatened to have the surgery and be out for the year unless he was traded. Poetic justice IMO and I don't care about either team.

Yeah this doesnt change the Cavs trade unless Kyrie can never play again.

Still a bad trade for the Cavs and a trade that should've been avoided

I know he used that but I also know it was known that he would need at the least a minor surgery to clean him out regardless or whatever the term is.

I like Kyrie and Lebron so I got nothing but love for both players but I hear playing with Lebron isnít easy so I canít hate on Kyrie for wanting out.. Plus Lebron is so secretive about his plans that Kyrie didnít wanna get stuck in Cleveland.

Kyrie didn't want out because of being worried about being stuck in Cleveland. He wanted out because he wanted to be THE man which is what he thought he was getting when he signed his max extension the minute it was eligible. He wanted to be THE man and then soured on the team when his name came up in trade talks during the off season.

I think it was a bit of both.. he didnít wanna be in Cleveland with Lebron esp withbkenron yes being numero uno so I agree

This sucks for all NBA fans. I thought Cleveland was gonna be in the Finals anyway but man it makes their path so much easier. They will kill Toronto or Washington etc etc.

It also is interesting in that it makes the IT/Kyrie trade a wash for 1 season. They both were out a lot of the year with injuries and surgery.

Injuries suck. I always like to see teams at their full potential.

That is a major bummer. Was really hoping we might see a LeBron Kyrie matchup in the playoffs.

We will get to see that next year. It was already going to be an unfair, uphill battle this year because of what happened opening night, not to mention a few other key pieces going down for the year also. Hopefully next year, everyone will be healthy and we will get to see what Kyrie can do as a #1 on a team. He already proved a lot of people wrong this year. He was the #1 option most of the year and they've been at the top of the East when everyone said that if he was a #1 option on a team, they won't even make the playoffs.

So the Cavs gave up a future injury concern for an injury concern.

Seems a wash.
