Default Controversial Topics Thread - allowed here and here only please

Politics have their own thread so keep them there.

Threats and insults (etc) will still get you suspended.

If you think this means you can promote racism or religion (or something else equally dumb), you will still be suspended or banned.

Just keep current events here ok? Leave them out of the rest of the forum please.

There was a red car flipped upside down today off a highway. About 20 men flipped it over and the driver was found alive and well. Some people may have thought wait for "professionals" to arrive. But I dunno? I don't really like controversy but I was drawn to post something.

I don't like IPAs. I think they're overrated and taste horrible, and I hate being a beer drinker living in a place where they're worshipped!

Down with hops! Wheat beers for life!

It's true. They came under fire about a year ago in Cleveland. A 6 month old girl, who was black, was killed in a drive-by. Figure out the suspect's race. They were silent and didn't do anything in the neighborhood.

Think they will show up at the funeral for Montrell Jackson? If they do, it won't be that many.

Their resources are limited. They unfortunately have to direct their attention to higher profile cases, the likes covered by the media, which doesn't generally see black-on-black crime as good for ratings. It's simply a matter of raising the most awareness from the efforts they are able to make.

Exactly what I was wondering...

I get that they're overpaid to do very little (at least in my area), but they're pretty good guys, overall.

Haters.

Over/under 1000 posts before it gets locked for being too controversial?

Over, if it could stay like this.

Under, since it can't possibly.

So, if controversial is allowed...

...I've always wondered what I call a transvestite, to their face. He? She?

I'm dead serious. I don't know any...I think...but what's proper?

I think we should move xarzy's grandma's UTI into here.

Speaking of, this thread will be great reading on the toilet.

You'd call a transgender person by the gender they changed into.

It depends. If he doesn't identify as a woman and simply likes wearing women's clothing and makeup, then he is proper. If she identifies as a woman even though she was born biologically male, then she would be proper.

You can also just politely ask him/her and maybe ask a few other questions if he/she is open to discussing the matter with you. You might learn a few other things you didn't know or were curious about. Communication is the key to any type of question.

If you're unsure and it's someone you know or will be dealing with regularly, ask. It's gotten especially complicated lately with gender pronouns, and some prefer the neutral "them/they" to "he/him" or "she/her", which is why you sometimes see the preferred pronouns in someone's Twitter bio.

Or, as has already been answered, just use their name.

Well, if your voice is muffled from being under the blanket, I don't think they'd be able to tell what you were saying anyway.
