No matter the sport, no matter the manufacturer, I feel the same if you aren't happy--blame the league. They decide if there's an exclusive, not the companies. I would love to see multiple companies in all sports with a restricted number of products and make everyone include one affordable brand.

Sometimes you just have to go with that initial reaction....

But to give your post its due, yes...the final decision ultimately come down to the league. Who gets what, exclusives, limtiations, etc.....that all worked well and good in the 1990s (when the NHL actually did limit the amount of releases).

Fastforward to current collecting in 2017, and letting the evil empire responsible for turning a fun hobby into degenerate gambling back into the league it only sees as a cash cow...well, let the gifs roll on.

Unfortunately we as collectors will never know what goes on behind closed doors when it comes to these "discussions" with the league and the price of the licensing alone now makes it unaffordable for companies to limit their production.

It was a fun hobby back in the day, but "decisions" like this only emphasize that the collector is forgotten in the modern big machine world.

Panini hockey products suck. End of story.

If true, is the nail in the UD coffin?

That is my first reaction. This puts an official exclamation point on the state of affairs at UD.

Not a knock on the OP or the screen shot person, but has anyone heard anything remotely about this from anyone else?

Keep in mind, when Panini was going to get basketball for the first time, I seem to recall it was not Beckett who broke the story so news can come out of strange places.

Excellent we can get 5000 dollar packs each with either a single, double, or fold out lineup 6 shield cards in 8 variations but somehow still all numbered out of 1.

Panini makes better cards than UD.
Every dealer will tell you that.

Too bad Collectors don't want nice cards. So there's no point in making them.

What's UD accomplish recently?

Make new YG's worth 20 cents.
FWA's $2
Cup RPA's $5
All veteran autos flooded.
More manufactured patches. Higher box prices.
Copying panini with diamond cards and Panini Prime fakes.

You guys sound as bad as people in Football/Baseball who love Topps junk.

Guess what...all companies are the same...they make 3 good products a year and 30 garbage ones.

Since when does the manufacturer set the prices of cards on the secondary market?

The *one* thing that Upper Deck has always had going for it was the quality of its products. No other company comes close.

By overproducing which every company does.
E-Packs especially.
