I won't get into the other stuff, but from what I am gathering if anyone should get the neg its the OP, but there was no deal in place. He made the deal at 10PM and canceled it around 7AM. Ever hear of sleep? He even said at 12:43 he would discuss more tommorow. I think the fault is on you on this one.
The other issues will likely earn you a small vacation before this is said and done. Last edited by shrevecity; 05-23-2018 at 03:23 PM. |

-he made offer through ebay. -you messaged him here on BO and said you would accept and suggested gift. you changed the terms of the initial offer completely (site and payment method)

I told the buyer I would be fine with goods since he was more comfortable that way. I was agreeing to his terms. How many times do I need to say it? Also, during his silence he was logging activity on the forums so he wasn't sleeping or whatever excuse you all can make. You make an offer, the seller agrees with your terms, then you pay. If no intention to pay immediately, you shoot a message back saying "can I pay you tomorrow?" or something along those lines. Using the sick family member excuse after ignoring messages, over 5 unpaid item strikes in a year, 0 feedback on BO...c'mon, that doesn't raise a red flag?
Yes, I know I broke a rule. I even pointed that out in the original posting. Houdini will be by soon to pat you all on the head. I'm not hiding the fact I initially asked for gift at all. If I take a suspension for it fine. I will chance a suspension before I risk my money. I have received numerous gift payments through here (most times it is offered, but there's been a few times where I've requested it too). Also I'm not questioning whether I'm an A-hole. I know I am if I suspect I will get some run-around on a sell. |

ok - you still changed the location.
he was (trying) to offer on ebay, not here. you switched the sale site to here. in your message to him you even state: "almost all of my transactions through here have been gift"

Let's take all the rule violations out. Basically,
1) Buyer tries to make an offer on ebay but was blocked, so he sent a message with an offer 2) OP found buyer on here and add the stipulation that he will accept the offer if the buyer sends gift 3) Buyer said nah and will only do it the traditional way 4) OP said fine, traditional way and send paypal addy. If buyer's traditional way means paypal direct, then a deal was in place. If buyer's traditional way means on ebay, then a deal was not in place. I guess we will never know the answer. LOL.

I am consistently amazed at just how many people conduct their business transactions unethically. Embarrassing...

This is so dumb on so many levels. Even by your own timeline, you asked the person if you had a deal or not. If you have to ask, you never had a deal. If a guy offers you an amount through an eBay message, that’s not a deal. If you find said guy on BO and ask for a gift payment, that’s not a deal. If said guy declines that and you say, alright we can do it the traditional way here’s my PP, that’s not a deal. You’re the only one that looks bad in this situation. Honestly OP, do you not see that? Forget the eBay rules and forum rules you broke, you still look bad. I thought you might have been trolling originally, but I’m convinced you’re just daft. I love the “I’ll agree to your $750 if you can do gift. We’ll deal outside outside of eBay and save some fees”. Those are the BIGGEST red flags in the entire exchange between you two. I also like the “we’ll” thrown in there, implying that the guy sending gift saves as well. Last edited by GeechQuest; 05-23-2018 at 06:18 PM. |

I usually just lurk in this section, but I have to say a couple of things real quick. Already established that asking gift here is no good, but how are you gonna ask for $750 via gift? Huh? That's a big sum of money to ask for via gift when the guy has no protection. All the positive feedback in the world has proven over and over again that you can't trust that when doing like a $10 transaction.
And second, the only savings on fees there was for you. That's just greasy.

Ahh another dope suspended cause they can’t follow rules but feels since they admit they are breaking the rules it’s ok.
Entitlement 101 And it’s clear they will do it again and again as they don’t care. Boot them before they rip someone off and there is nothing you can do. As for saving fees PayPal takes 3% and think of all the fees youre saving by robbing ebay and going off site for a transaction. This guy sure has a lot of excuses, kind of like any scammer we dealt with here...

Never accept any offers when buyers dont have money to pay. As soon as you hear "I need time", "Ill think about it", "lets talk tommorow because someone is sick", are all lies to hold up the deal.
I mean seriously, who thinks about cards when a family member is sick and need attending? Or needs to go to sleep? Lame. "Hey Ill buy that card!!, Lets make a deal now and ill send money to you in the next couple of months after I take a vacation, bust some wax and make my rent payment". |

To the OP with zero snark:
1. Let it go 2. Be more patient going forward
