Elite Show Services - Miami Dolphins - Sun Life Stadium
Hey Peeps, Most of you know me from the Basketball section but any Miami Dolphins Fans Season Ticket Holders may know me as Lisardo from Elite Show Services @ Home Games. Well, that is until today. I started working for Elite during the beginning of the 2012 Dolphins season and also worked Hurricane home games.
Today I quit working with Elite because of their lack of compassion to their employees. I came to work today wearing 2 white tee-shirts because its 60 Degrees (during the day) in MIAMI, Fl this week. 1 shirt (Inside has a NYK logo) and outside shirt doesnt. While checking in, 2 Black Shirt managers, warm in their Elite Jackets singled me out and said that I 'must' take off my inside shirt because of their clothing policy. I replied, Its freezing out here and you guys don't guarantee jackets to all workers. I can understand if Im wearing the logo shirt on the outside but it was on the inside. They proceeded to say that I couldn't go inside wearing the shirt and even implied that I take my shirts off and turn them inside out, mind you it was 59 degrees at that moment and I dont want to get sick as I do have a real day job I dont want to jeopardize. I pleaded with them and said, 'I've been working for Elite since the beginning of the Season and have been praised by all of my supervisors as a great worker (Fact) and you don't want to make an exception when its freezing cold (Miami Standards) outside? For a measly $40-50 I won't risk my health and will stand my ground.' I Proceeded to let them know that this if F-d up and that I will NOT be coming back. Good Riddance and good luck to all the workers who will be at the game today getting sick because Elite won't be able to provide enough jackets for them. //End Rant

considering how windy it gets? def..
It also has to do with the amount of talking you do.Your mouth gets dry and in colder weather, you get sick quicker when you have dry mouth. Has to do with the saliva creating a barrier against germs.

Don't know why you just didn't do what they asked. It would've taken less than a minute. You work for them, they don't work for you. I guess you're one of those employees who feel like they don't have to follow the rules.

Last week they 'overstaffed' and as a result I was sent home early because they couldn't redeploy me to work a full day. Forget that, Im not gonna kiss ass when they don't recognize that Its people like me who talk to 500-600 people during a day and keep their customer satisfaction ratings great. I ALWAYS FOLLOW THE RULES. Today I FOLLOWED THE RULES BUT THEY WANTED TO SINGLE ME OUT. NOTE- I left out ethnicity in the first post and social background as per forum rules.

Your not going to get sick working in a little 60 degree weather. It would probably do you some good. I PRAY for 30 degree weather. I was out shoveling snow and working around the yard yesterday when it was around 0 degrees with just light sweatshirt on and gloves. Not the first time either. I'm not sick today.

Ok, Ill just stop talking about the cold issues and focus on everything else.
Tone of voice, lack of compassion, lack of lunch breaks that I have experienced, etc. Today was the day that the cup overflowed.

He said I needed to come inside to get my end of the deal and then proceeded to not allow me in to collect the cards.

Is the OP really complaining about 60 degree weather? Also, as stated above, the cold doesn't make you sick. Mouth breathers who don't cover their mouths when they're sick get people sick...

Look at all the Rambo wannabes in here can probably stand -40 in their undies and not have a sniffle. Believe it or not, 60 here (and it has been in the 40s overnight) is cold for people used to the 90s. It's not about the absolute temperature, it's getting acclimatized.
Anyway if you believe people don't get sick in florida, you're nuts. |

I also gotta point out that although this issue may not seem major to you guys it was the final straw. I have had other things occur while working for Elite. Among them is seeing favoritism in the promoting. How would you feel if you found yourself teaching your newly hired superiors how to do their job? people who started working for the company after you but already got promoted because their supervisor friend hooked them up? For $8.00 p/h I was doing more than their workers who get paid much more.

How did they know your inside shirt had a logo?.. It must of been showing through?, then its understandable.. and fyi, cold weather doesnt make you sick... this is from webmd, google "does cold weather make you sick" and ever answer is NO..
Does Dry or Cold Air Cause Colds? Dry air does not cause colds. Many people believe that hot, dry air can dry up the mucus in your nasal passages, leaving you more susceptible to colds. Not true, says Tallman. As far as colds are concerned, he says, "It doesn't matter what the humidity is." If you are already sick, though, moist air can help ease congestion and coughing, making your suffering a bit more bearable. Cold weather also does not cause colds -- at least not directly. Despite its name, the common cold is not caused by cold. "It doesn't have any effect at all," says Tallman. "There's no correlation." In fact, you may be more likely to "catch your death of cold" indoors, where it's warm and crowded than outdoors in the chilly air. People in close quarters are more readily exposed to carriers of the viruses that cause colds. "If one person in a household gets sick, it will spread easily," Tallman says.

As for my tshirt being a little see-through, I complain because the only time my tshirt is showing is from the time I walk in the gate till I sign in 50ft away because we put on another shirt over it. Thats the big Gripe here. They didn't allow me to walk in to the stadium to put the 'Elite' shirt on even though on NUMEROUS occasions they have allowed new comers to wear Nike Shirts in to work without making them take it off. Today it was f-in cold and they can't make an exception? Quote:

Sorry but the highlighted text applies both ways. Regardless of being inside or out. Like mentioned, 60 degrees might be warm to some/cold for others. When the text you quoted mentions cold, Im sure they are referring to REAL cold, not 'sniffles' cold.
And I welcome you to contradict this. Have you ever spoken to 400-500 people in a 5-6 hr period of a day? In close quarters?

So don't come into my thread to argue about the smaller details when the BIG PICTURE IS EASY TO SEE.
