Default One card you didn't buy you wish you would have

I am sure we all have cards we walked away from a dealers table or an LCS that we wish we would have purchased. Tell us yours.

Here is mine:

And it is actually two. Same dealer table back in 1997 walked away from a 1997 UD Legends Johnny Unitas auto card AND a redemption for a 1997 Legends Butkus redemption.

I think the guy wanted $80 for each or around there.

Oh how I will always remember that misstep.

I can't say I've ever lost out too bad but the worst I've ever walked away from was a black gold Ezekiel Elliott /99 for $80, they sell for like $130 but you know, **** happens.

Normally when I see something I think is a good investment I go with my gut and so far and its made me some good money so when I truly think its worth a good amount more than I paid I just buy it.

Funny thing about the legends set is I also pulled a Fred Dean redemption.

It was not redeemed by UD as he did not send in the cards signed.
I got a Jim Marshall Vikings which was okay at the time BUT the redemption card alone now is worth some good coin.

About 4 years ago i had the opportunity to buy my friend's 2011 five star Rodgers/Starr dual auto /10 and I passed. I figured I'd have another chance at one down the road. Boy was I wrong.

Travis Kelce superfractor. Passed on it for 150 bc he was nothing yet. I own most of his top cards and would probably pay close to 1k for it today.

Six or seven months ago when I started collecting Brady rookies and didn't know too much about them. Had a choice between a Playoff Prestige and a Limited rookie for $120 for either. Was thinking Playoff was better and went that route. Still don't have a limited and they have skyrocketed while the Prestige hasn't moved.

The 2011 Topps chrome JJ watt superfractor...at the time I thought $145 was too much...it would have completed my rainbow

2009 Limited Randy Moss/Tedy Bruschi dual laundry tag /5. There was a copy up on eBay last year for less than a day, and then the listing got pulled by the seller without being sold.

One that sticks out was a couple of years ago at the National. Someone had a 1991 Pennsylvania High School Marvin Harrison card, that was either a PSA 9 or PSA 10 (honestly can't remember but wanna say it was a 9). I wasn't seriously collecting Marvin at this point so I ended up talking myself out of it. It had an $80 price tag on it which I would gladly pay right now and then the following year, he gets elected into the HOF. There's a PSA 9 on eBay right now with a $1k BIN. Card looks like this:

I met with a guy once who called me up wanting to sell his collection. I flipped through some of it. In a notebook, he had most of a 57 Topps set in great shape, prolly NM or better, along with all of the 1970s RCs of eventual HOFers. That was just one notebook on top of a palet with sets and boxes from the 50s-80s. Guy said he'd take $400 for everything.

I told him I'd take it but would rather pay with a money order over a check. I didn't want him to have my bank account info because I had just met him. That was on a Saturday. By the time I could get to the bank on Monday, he had talked to his son and they decided not to sell. His son decided he'd just keep it all. Now I wished I'd have written him a check.

I decided not to bid on a 2001 Quantum Leaf All-Millennium Marks auto patch Marino /25 a few years back , wish I did as it ended for a fair price and I haven't seen one since. No big deal tho

Back in '97 I was on the AOL trading boards and somebody redeemed the Action Packed Pewter master die 1/1 of Everett (remember those points redemptions). I didn't pay the $100 he wanted. It's one of the few in need for every Everett ever made......ugh.

I could of bought the 98 Contenders Peyton Manning for 300 dollars back in the summer of 99. Instead I used the money to buy alot of Moss inserts and rookies. I wish I had that moment back.

Had a chance to buy a NM '66 Topps Bobby Orr rookie back in '81-'82 for $90. That was a lot of money for me as a teenager and I didn't want to spend that much on a single card. Like the girl that got away, I think about that card often.

Mine might be the cheapest in this thread

About a month before I decided to start collecting Star Lotulelei his Elite RC /4 was at auction and I almost bid on it for the hell of it, I did not and it sold for $1.04 or something.

It is now the only card of his that I do not own.

There are definitely a few I wish I'd bought:

1997 Skybox Rubies Brian Manning RC
There's a story here. He's a scrub rookie but from the 90's set I covet the most. Before I started to collect the set, it was up years ago on eBay for less than $10. I'd literally pay 3-4x that for one now. I just never thought I'd actually collect the set back then. Now, its one of only ten cards I'm missing for the rookie set.

2007 Topps Finest Gold XFractors Auto Anthony Gonzalez 1/1
Several years back, when money was tighter, this card popped up at the same time as another 1/1 I wanted - a 2009 SPX Donald Brown NFL Shield Auto. I had to choose between them and picked the Brown. I don't really regret my choice but in hindsight wished I'd found a way to get both.

2007 Bowman Chrome Red Refractors Auto Anthony Gonzalez /5
This is one that popped up several years ago graded at BGS and I really didn't want the card at all that bad at the time but now I really wish I purchased it because I've never been able to come across one since.

2008 Playoff Contenders Championship Ticket Tom Santi 1/1
I'm a sucker for scrub one of one Colts autos from Contenders. His popped up several years ago for $40 buy it now on eBay and I passed on it because I really didn't care to buy it. Now I would love to of had that for $40 even though he's a complete nobody.

4 years ago I got offered a Brady contenders auto bgs 9.5/10 for $850. I could easily afford it at the time as I had just make over $4k flipping at the National, but decided to hold off

A few years ago, I was trying to put together the 04 Ultimate jersey auto /25 set. Brady's was up for $200. I wanted to say it was a PSA 9. Since I don't like Brady much (I respect him, just not a fan) I figured I'd wait till it got closer to the end of the set. That's maybe an $800 card now. Maybe more if they ever pop up.

Also, being a badgers fan, when Wilson and Nick Toon came out in the draft, I wanted to collect them. Both were cheap at first. I picked up maybe one Wilson cause I didnt think he would do much in the NFL. I figured Toon would look great with Bree's so I picked up about 20 Toon autos. Wilson autos were $10-20 a piece. Shortly after, the same cards were $100+ a piece.

Nick Toon..... eh....

Whoops.

Several 1/1's of nobody's from the 2004 contenders set that I'd wished I'd pulled the trigger for!
BJ Symons come to mind most often but there where about 8-10 1/1's I missed out on!

STILL CHASING THEM ALL THE TIME!!
