Default Finally done!

Graduated from college today with high honors and a bachelors degree in accounting.

Never been so happy to be finished with something in my life (until I go back for my masters in another year lol)

Congrats to everyone else who graduated this year as well as I'm sure there are a few of you.

I'm less interested in your paper degree than I am interested in how many coeds you banged and how many beer bongs you did...

In all seriousness, congrats. A very worthwhile accomplishment. Good luck moving forward!

Skip the Masters - just go for the CPA and be done

As asujbl said, don't waste time on the master.
CPA -> Big 4 -> MBA.

In all honesty I'm probably just going to do both. I can get my masters in one calendar year which would also give me the extra 25 credits I need for the CPA.
I have had so many people tell me different things on which one to get. It seems as though it matters more on what field you want to go into.

True.

I can just tell you that I've never once, and I've interviewed folks in multiple industries (public and private), cared if someone had their Masters in Accounting

The CPA? That you better have

I went the Masters->CPA route, but only because I got a job in private out of school not big 4. Still have the same job but a controller now and I love it, so it can work either way. I'll go for MBA later on in life so mine will be Undergrad->Private job->MSA->CPA->MBA no big 4.

Good luck either way!

No wrong way for sure. I didn't mean to imply that to the OP.

Just saying that in my experience, both in public and private, the CPA is far and away the most important thing.

The MBA is a bonus.

Now if you need credit hours to sit for the exam? Might make sense to do the MBA at the same time

I think that is more of the route I am looking to take. I find much more interest in being a controller rather than being at one of the big 4.

Auditing class was the most boring class I had to take in college. That was just awful.
