Yes it is. I had to check the back to confirm.

Very nice stuff. The Elway however seems too good to be true. I hope I'm wrong.

I believe it's legit. Looked on worthpoint and it's been sold a few times years and years ago with the same patch. No signs of creasing or damage on the window.

That really doesn't mean much. There cannot be a way that is real, in my opinion. Not that it matters as much now with the way patch quality has trended lately.

The card is an 05 Absolute jumbo patch.... premium patches were distributed in early products like this without being 1/1's or extremely low numbered. Similar type items from the early absolute patches were simply amazing. If the patch window is totally clean and and edges look like they are still perfectly bonded.... there is no reason to assume the card is not real

I hate being that guy, but I agree with Delta. I collected the hell out of this set from 2003-2005. I had 16 of the 25 Shockey Jumbos from 2004 at one time. I searched that set every day of my life and I think every Elway was always 2 or 3 colors. Just becuase something is an older fake (checked on worthpoint) doesn't mean it was faked 10 years ago (before worthpoint).

Yes you can find Logo patches in these cards. But with the giant windows they were some of the most faked patches around. Not only was it easy to pull the old one out, but it was money in the bank putting a giant logo in. The easiest tell for a fake, is when the patch takes up the entire window. Not saying it couldn't happen, but when you fake a patch its easier to buy one and hog the entire window.

I always feel safer when a little jersey swatch is showing as well, thats more organic to the process and its proof it at least came off a jersey. When its 100% logo, you could just buy that patch and do this.

Beyond concept:

I dont think they used a 1994 Elway jersey for cards that year. Here are some other Elways from this set that sold. This card 3 times (more if you go back farther) Look at the ones with stripes. Either the stripes are one color (nameplate) of alternate white color white.

https://www.worthpoint.com/inventory...+elway+patches

Thats the style jersey Elway would have worn in the 80's. White jersey, blue strip, white jersey, orange strip was the pattern of the sleeves at the time.

The solid blue stripe looks to me like his old nameplate.

Here are the 2 versions of white jerseys he wore in 1994. That was the only year of the 75th patch.

Standard current year (with patch)
The sleeves are all solid, Blue Orange Blue (no white jersey material in between) and every break on the jersey is always Orange Blue (no white in between like the other 2005 Absolute patches) Even the nameplate would always be Blue Orange, again no white like all the other ones from Worthpoint.

Lot Detail - 1994 John Elway Denver Broncos Game-Used Road Jersey with 75th Anniversary Patch

And the super rare Throwback white jersey. Exact same as the above. No white breaks in the sleeves, numbers, or nameplate.

John Elway 1994 Game-Worn Broncos Throwback Road Jersey

I'm sorry OP, I just would hate to have something in my PC that would bother me like this. I hope you take all of this the right way.

Either your card is 100% real, and all of the other versions from the same set were faked using a different jersey (one from the 80's that had white in between the colors). Or someone bought a 75th patch on ebay 10+ years ago and replaced a 2 color swatch with that and faked the card.

U guys.... it is a sweet card despite what you "think" so keep your negativity to yourself... it's not like he's selling it to you or like you would buy it.

Nice pickups OP! LOVE THE ELWAY PATCH! And the LT contenders rookie and that LT medallion.

Calm down there sweetheart. You have no idea what you are talking about. Collectors like you are the reason why patch fakers have been getting away with this stuff for years. You get blinded by an awesome patch and assume its real.

OP posted their mail day. I'm informing OP that the patch in his card cant be real. Since it was a recent pickup, maybe he can still get his money back. I'm sure the card wasnt cheap. That's helping.

If OP doesnt give a .... thats fine, but maybe someone else reads this and they pick up some hints on how to check for fake patches. That's helping.

Going beyond the fact that this card has been resold a half dozen times in the past 6 years (at least on ebay).

Going beyond the fact that all of the other Elways patches from this set came from a 1980's jersey, and NOT a 1994.

You can tell it is not off a 1994 jersey just by looking at the patch. All of the 1994 NFL 75th Anniversary patches were identical. They were supplied by the league to be worn in every game that season. Some might look a little beat up today, 20+ years later, after being washed or whatever. But that wouldn't change the materials and design of the patch.

A real patch was made using Nylon/rayon threads. They are soft, vibrant and have a sheen to them. Even after washing. They all use double stitching, so you cant see the black batting behind them. This makes the colors "pop" on the front. The lines are neat and uniform on the design. Take a look below.

Here is a real 1994 patch in great detail. Look at the nice clean even lines. Really stands out where the white line that frames the patch meets the black.

http://sports.mearsonlineauctions.co...77716d_lg.jpeg

Here is another one, zoom in. Look at how clean it if. Look at those tight straight lines (no zigzag like a knockoff)

http://www.100percentauthentic.com/C...ch-70927/70927

Look at those, and look at this patch in detail.

Cotton threads (no sheen) Single stitching (you can see little black lines throughout the patch, it really stands out behind the white in the NFL part). No stack stitching, looks flat. Looks at the lines, look at the white where it meets the black to frame the logo. Its jagged and rough, not neat like a true patch.

https://www.flickr.com/photos/148745...6/35141742065/

That patch in OP's card is just a recreation of the real patch. They have been around for years and years. They are cheap and patch fakers love them.

Look at this link, look at the "sheen" look at the black batting. OP's card has an aftermarket generic patch. It's fake. Even this aftermarket patch is better quality then the one used in his card.

https://www.ebay.com/i/291615504127?chn=ps&dispItem=1

I personally own 100's of game used jerseys. I educate myself on what to look for. That bleeds over to cards. If a friend on these boards helped me spot a con I fell for, I'd be grateful. If OP wants to ignore thats fine. But maybe someone else will learn something.

Grid, you've definitely done your research. I appreciate the replies and the thought out and well written assessment rather than the, "It's fake" approach.

I didnt think you were trying to downplay any of the pickups. At least you came with some substance to your claim and I appreciate that.
