Default Costa Rica

Thinking about planning a vacation to Costa Rica.Any tips? Anyone been there before?

I'm guessing the best place to fly into is San José?

Beaches are a long way away?

Anything fun to do? Lol

Thanks

I loved it down there, we stayed in at Tulemar resort(see below) near Manuel Antiono rain forest. The place is very nice and you have options in terms of how nice of a room you want, ranging from standard room to basically a house with kitchen etc. Beach there is super clean and tons of wild life. Good restaurants close by. PM me if you have more questions.

The family and I went to CR a couple years back. We stayed at Punta Leona Resort (Pacific side) which is just north of Jaco. We had a blast.

Jaco is a cool little surf town. There is a ton of things to do! Lots of beach time, snorkeling, etc. We did the zip lines through the jungle. I'd highly recommend that.

We also spent a day at the volcano and zoo nearby. That was pretty cool. The highlight was fishing. It was roughly $500 for a full day fishing for four adults. Caught a ton of fish!

One of the best places for a vacation that I have ever been to. Do a river rafting trip, zip lining, and go visit the volcanoes. There is so much to do and the driving may be a little crazy but you can get use to it easily. San Jose is just like a U.S. city and they have some nice casinos in the nicer hotels.

One of the nicest and safest countries you can ever visit. I've gone twice and loved both areas I've been to. The Manuel Antonio area has a rain forest with a beautiful beach inside of the rain forest. Beautiful landscapes and monkeys and sloths all around. From there you can travel to go see the volcanoes or take a day trip to go zip lining. (highly recommended) I did a ziplining tour that took place in an area with like 10 waterfalls of all different sizes. Amazing time. The other are I stayed in was Tamarindo. Nice laid back surfing town that had nice little restaurants all around and a beautiful beach as well. If you go, definitely stay in a town near a beach, San Jose (the capital) is more of a city type scene and doesn't give you the true Costa Rica experience. Also if there is any crime in Costa Rica, (there's not much) San jose is the most likely area where it occurs. Definitely set up some tours to see as much of the country as possible because it is beautiful. You will not be disappointed. Have fun!

Forgot to mention in my first response that we did the Tarcoles River boat tour. Well worth it seeing crazy locals feeding crocs by hand. Lots of wildlife (other than the crocs) as well. Howler monkeys, macaws....

Be sure to drink a bunch of Imperials!

Love it. If you like nature it is especially a treat. Lots of wildlife to see. We did a trip through groupon that had us stay for one portion of the trip in the cloud forest area and the other part in the beachy area of the rainforest side. Highly recommended!

I wish I could remember the names of the places we stayed at. I know the first place was cool because a majority of the food and dairy etc. they had they grew and produced there.
