Default Thoughts on authenticating cards from slabbed series'...?

I am currently in the market to sell my John Bonham cut auto from the FF Music, Music, Music series. I am considering sending it to PSA for authentication to increase interest for potential (serious) buyers, however, PSA charges a $200 authentication fee on Bonham items. It is quite difficult to find a Bonham signature ANYWHERE. Having said that, I am assuming that anyone looking to spend the kind of money it takes to acquire a Bonham signature would like a bit of "piece of mind" that a PSA authentication may bring. Does anyone see this as an intelligent investment? I have my doubts...thanks for any input.

I doubt PSA will authenticate it slabbed, and Famous Fabrics guarantees the authenticity of their cut signatures. I really don't know which way this one will go. Personally, I would keep it slabbed.

Have you tried turning it off and back on again?

Does PSA have to remove it from the slab? Can't they authenticate it as is?

I wouldn't mess with it. Its been viewed over 800 times and you currently have 17 watchers on it. And you also had 8 offers from 5 different ebayers. If you don't mind me asking, what was the highest offer you received for it?

Some people may recall this "secretarial" being pulled (edited to add that DrPrice handled this professionally and apparently took care of it):

I called PSA a few weeks ago and after a lengthy conversation explaining that it was already slabbed and how I wanted to leave it that way, they agreed to leave it slabbed and just issue a "Letter/Sticker of authenticity." I was going to send the Bonham in with my John Pershing and Douglas MacArthur HoW cuts, however, those finally sold.

They're laughable:
$200, $250, $400, $425, $666, and $700

Very cool signature! Just not a big fan of the cut sigs in card sets. Seems to me the card company has to find a reputable autograph dealer and trust them just as I would have to if I shopped for it. Only the card company is going to cut the autograph out of a larger piece to fit it into a card frame. The whole process just seems odd to me.

I'm surprised. I figured they would want to see it raw before they would authenticate it.

Default Best Offer settings...

I haven't had anything that cool or expensive but I always set a minimum on Best Offers to ignore the lowballers. You could set the minimum price to consider by editing the listing. Let's say you'd consider anything over $1500, then set it to reject anything under $1499.99.

Just a thought,

If we listened to the Dalai Lama's opinions, he'd tell us not to be so materialist and acquisitive. It'd be the end of the hobby!

Yeah, you can set an autodecline amount and limit the number of offers. If someone keeps lowballing you, he'll run out of offers and likely give up.

If he's still interested, he can always e-mail you and say so, and you can tell him your minimum then. That's how it went down when I bought a card recently.
