I'm a fan of freedom, regardless of how people choose to utilize it.
The day you have to start worrying is the day people go from saying "he shouldn't have done that" to "he shouldn't be allowed to do that."

If he can express himself like that then the Cowboy players should have been able to honor the cops that were killed. The NFL would not allow that but the RAMS players got to do their thing last year.

I don't know what the issue is with inconsistent enforcement of rules by the NFL, but to me that's a side issue. While abstaining from anthems and burning flags might seem terrible on the surface, if one believes that America stands for equality and liberty and has deviated from those ideals, then disrespecting symbols makes a level of sense because one is saying "these symbols no longer represent what they were intended to represent." So while I don't agree with every or probably even most of the reasons why citizens disrespect national symbols, I deeply respect their freedom to do so and believe that those who viciously attack them are the ones who should "just go ahead and leave if you don't like."

"Yes, I'll continue to sit," Kaepernick said. "I'm going to continue to stand with the people that are being oppressed. To me this is something that has to change. When there's significant change and I feel like that flag represents what it's supposed to represent, this country is representing people the way that it's supposed to, I'll stand."
Then he can keep his ass on the bench when the game starts till to it ends also. Better yet make him the 3rd string QB and have him deactive every week. |

You struggle in the NFL for more than 1 season, you automatically suck and have always sucked. Didn't get the memo?

I think the 49ers should all sit on the field when he is playing, since he oppresses the offense.

Sounds like he probably will not last long anyway, probably his way of making the cut process easier on both parties. He clearly chose this time for a reason, it is not as if problems in America are new, so why now? He will be out soon.

Why cut him? The team owes him no matter what for this season. I RG3 him don't let him go play for another team. Make him sit don't play him waste a year of his career and hurt his value more on the FA market next year by him not playing at all.

Yea I mean I agree, just saying that he did it now for a reason, no one probably wants to deal with him anyway at this point.

Funny how no one in the media seems to want to touch on how he converted to Islam during the offseason and now suddenly has a huge problem with America.

Then again, ironic how America embraced and continues to embrace Tim Tebow because of it. There really is a double standard. And I don't think Kaepernick has a problem with America as a nation. He has a problem with particular recent and recurring injustices that have not been rectified. Never been a fan of the guy, but I'm at least reading into the story and seeing exactly what message he is attempting to convey. I'm pretty sure there are others out there who share his sentiment that aren't Muslim as well. |

well..with as much "attention" this is getting Kaep, looks like someone else is trying to stay relevant and piggybacking off him...
T.I. 3 hrs · This is the gentleman who wrote the song U want US to stand up for???? Listen, I respect the troops. I respect their efforts. However,I also acknowledge that black soldiers fought & died in WW2 to defend freedoms & liberties overseas that they couldn't even receive for themselves when they made it back home as veterans. Me standing UP(or not standing)for mines shouldn't be taken as an insult against yours..... UNLESS you hope to continue to oppress US & devalue our position in American society. Now y'all eat that up.... Side note: I was suspended in middle school for not standing up for the pledge. This POV ain't new to me. picture he has posted is of FS Key and says - white supremacist slaveowner who once said africans in america are a distinct and clear inferior race |
